Rekon EXO/TR Tire

If you and your XC-leaning trail bike enjoy testing the limits of your 125mm suspension, you know the right tire can go a long way. When you notice that yours are looking more than a little worn this season, replace them with the Maxxis Rekon EXO/TR Tire and get back out on the trails. If you aren't racing, you likely won't miss the higher TPI and thus lower rolling resistance of the pricier Rekon 3C. The Rekon EXO/TR's step-down in price will leave plenty left over in your upgrade fund, without translating to a significant compromise in ride quality for most.

As you push your earnest frame onto downhill-only trails behind your hooting and hollering herd of enduro-loving pals, the Rekon's generous center knobs will grip reassuringly when you throw the brake levers heading into a nasty rock garden. Once you clear it, the L-shaped side knobs will help you make up time and catch up to the group as you rail around tacky berms. Maxxis' capable EXO protection also makes an appearance in the Rekon, protecting you from ride-slowing flats and giving you license to take your bike anywhere that looks enticing.

Goldilocks

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have been running the 2.6 Rekon for about 8 months. No tire can do everything very well, bit this tire comes pretty close. Where the Rekon excels is finding a balance between traction, grip, braking and rolling resistance. Unless there is mud or greasy clay this tire will get you up tech climbs. The Rekon grips and drifts predictably. You will need to dial in your psi or the tire can squirm and burped when railed. Once you find your sweet spot, it is very reliable. Is the Rekon a good choice for enduro- No Is the Rekon a good choice for XC racing- probably not ...But I would use it for just about anything in between.
