Minion DHF EXO/TR Tire
Seeing as how the industry is pushing towards wider wheels, it makes perfect sense that Maxxis developed a line of Wide Trail Tires specifically for an internal rim width of 30 to 35 millimeters. The 2.6-inch Maxxis Minion DHF EXO/TR Tire features a Wide Trail Casing, which offers a subtle redesign in knob profile to offer superb cornering grip at smaller lean angles and predictable traction on a wider rim. It retains the notable characteristics of the original Minion DHF, namely the ramped center knobs for low rolling resistance and straight-line control, combined with channel-cut gripping edges for cornering precision.
Another major benefit of its higher volume is that you can lower tire pressure for unrelenting grip and extra bump compliance when you're smashing across trail rubble and rolling over rock gardens. Since it's not a plus-size tire, the 2.6-inch volume doesn't come with a drastic weight penalty, so you won't feel like you're pedaling along with a lumbering behemoth of a tire. This particular version of the DHF comes with Maxxis' dual-compound rubber and EXO protection from sidewall slashes. It's tubeless-ready, giving you the ability to easily seal it up for the benefits of running a tubeless set-up on your trail bike.
- Wide Trail Casing for trail riders running wider wheels
- 2.6-inch volume increases traction and bump compliance
- Ideally suited for internal rim widths of 30 to 35mm
- Revised knobs for predictable traction, cornering grip
- Dual compound balances rolling efficiency with grip
- EXO protection from sidewall slashes and abrasion
- Tubeless-ready for quick, easy sealing

Can I run these on 23mm wide rims? More specifically 27.5 Giant XC-1's that are stock on my giant trance?

Seems like a minor difference, but could you run these on a 29mm rim?

Love this thing.

I have been riding on this for a little over a month now and I only have good things to say. I was running a 2.5 on my Firebird before I jumped up to this in the front. This tire has great traction and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about increasing in size from a 2.4 or 2.5. Please let me know if you have any questions on this tire or any others you see on the site.

Hi Austin - since you've been on both, can you compare the drag for both tires? 2.5 vs 2.6 DHF?

Threw this on my Yeti SB6c and LOVE it. Its very grippy and the 2.6 width gives you a lot of surface area to corner.. i ran a 2.4 prior to this and any time i can fit a 2.6 i will from now on. Definitely recommend this tire.

For those who are looking to go a little wider up front than their existing 2.3-2.4 set ups but dont love that bouncy feeling of a full on 3.0 or 2.8 plus tire, the 2.6 nicely splits there difference by giving you plenty of traction while staying more firmly planted. I've also noticed as a side result that these tires float through muddier conditions great, and due to the huge knobs, shed mud exceptionally well. This tire is available in both dual and triple compound, but this version above would be dual to last a little bit longer than the 3C versions do.

Hi Austin, Is the 27.5x2.6" Minion DHF actually a WT casing? They don't seem to have "WT" printed on the tyre itself? Does yours actually have that WT on the casing? I just bought one that was advertised as a WT version but it doesn't mention anything about it being a WT on the tyre or the Maxxis cardboard description slip that they come on, and I cannot find a single picture on the net that shows "2.6WT" on the sidewall? I'm confused! Thanks, Tony
