Ksyrium Pro MIPS Helmet

The Mavic Ksyrium Pro MIPS Helmet provides unparalleled comfort across long distances with its ergonomically contoured shape and head-conforming XRD foam. This means it'll sit precisely on your head without any pressure points or uncomfortable hot spots causing you to constantly re-adjust the helmet through long-distance endurance efforts. Mavic's Ergo Hold SL Retention System wraps around your head with the twist of a rear-mounted dial, allowing the helmet to fit precisely without excess movement at high speeds.

You're probably aware of MIPS by now, but we'll explain this leading impact-dissipating technology in a brief manner. Basically, this technology places a low-friction liner inside, which allows the helmet to rotate independently around your head, should you take a spill at an oblique angle with the asphalt, which is most likely to occur. This allows the helmet to dissipate rotational impact forces from being transmitted through the helmet, instead of just offering protection from head-on collisions like a traditional cycling helmet.

Besides its ergonomic shape and upgraded MIPS technology, the Ksyrium Pro MIPS employs 22 Clima Vents to rapidly evacuate built-up heat from cooking your head in warmer weather. Another impressive feature are the 37.5-embedded pads for moisture management and temperature regulation. This technology uses heat-activated charcoal sourced from volcanic sand and coconut shells to quickly wick moisture where it can readily evaporate, promoting an utterly cool, dry feel when you're sweating it out on the road.

  • Ergonomic comfort and protection for long road rides

Are there sun visor options with this helmet?

There is a helmet that is just like the Ksyrium Pro that has a visor. It is called the Mavic Crossmax SL Pro.

Amazingly comfortable

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
True to size

I needed a new helmet after a gnarly encounter with black ice on my way home recently. Looking at replacements, the brand I used to always use is owned by an arms manufacturer. So I looked at other options and this helmet caught my eye. What a great price! Surely it is a budget model, or very heavy? No, in looking at it carefully the specs and weight are all very competitive with top-end helmets elsewhere. I gave it a go and upon receipt was extremely pleased to find that it fits so perfectly on my head that I barely feel it. I’ve had other helmets that felt good, but not like this. The adjustment mechanism at the back also works very, very well. I love it. I also note that the straps flow through from one side to the other, so you will never have to fiddle around with adjusting the straps to get your helmet to not tilt to one side like my last one did. That really bugged me. In terms of function on the bike, the ventilation seems good and I note that it has some light mesh to keep out bugs, a rare feature I had a few helmets ago and have missed. As for its ultimate function, will the Ksyrium Pro MIPS keep my head from being cracked open in a fall? Only time will tell...
