Stand out.

While Mavic may be most known for its bombproof wheelsets and penchant to pride safety and reliability over flashy industry trends, its cycling shoes mark a departure from the current norms in cycling footwear. The Mavic Ksyrium Haute Route Men's Cycling Shoe is a shining example with its stand-out Ergo Straps and unique tongue construction.

The Endofit tongue borrows design cues from athletic footwear giant Salomon for a new take on cycling shoe construction. Endofit is a sleeve that wraps the midfoot to anchor the shoe securely in the middle while allowing play in the toe box and metatarsal area. The shoe stays in place while mashing up punchy climbs without crushing the more hotspot-prone areas of the foot.

Everything is held in place with Mavic's Ergo Straps, which combine the time-tested hold of hook-and-loop straps with aramid cables, and a ratcheting Ergo Dial. The outsole is the same light, stiff, carbon-reinforced model used throughout most of the Ksyrium line, and the deleterious impact that its stiffness would have on your foot is mitigated by the inclusion of Mavic's Ergo Fit 3D OrthoLite insole, which provides strategic support and relief with the technical accuracy normally reserved for the pricier end of the shoe spectrum.

  • Stand-out styling and comfort for the road
  • Carbon reinforced sole for stiff efficiency
  • Comfortable Endofit internal sleeve
  • Highly adjustable closure system blends classic and new tech
  • Includes Mavic's Ergo Fit 3D OrthoLite insole

Mavic made basic foot comfort a priority on the Ksyrium Haute Route. While that may sound obvious for a $200 shoe, many of us have no doubt used cycling shoes that cost over $300, but are not at all luxurious. While the Ksyriums don't quite have the locked in, rocket boot feel, or freaky stiffness/weight ratio of the Shimano R321, Specialized SW 6, or Giro Empires, the Ksyriums easily surpass these shoes in terms of interior foot comfort. For long, steady rides, comfortable feet are far more valuable than a few extra grams, or lost watts.

The Ksyriums have a neutral fit through the arch, and moderate volume, so if you use custom insoles, the overall fit won't change drastically.

Mavic's Ergo Dial system is simple and quick to get the hang of, and the ergo straps accentuate the shoe's comfort, by facilitating even pressure over the top of the forefoot.

The materials, construction, and styling used on the Ksyriums manage to balance durability, simplicity, light weight, and plenty of spice.

Overall, a great pair of comfy, limited, high performance kicks at a nice price point.
