Crossmax Elite Cycling Shoe
Designed for the needs of cross-country riding and racing, the Mavic Men's Crossmax Elite Mountain Bike Shoe features a streamlined, foot-conforming fit and grippy rubber sole for placing a foot down over rocky trails. Thin, aerodynamic uppers are tightened by Mavic's Ergo Dial QR, which provides micro-adjustable precision with the quick turn of a dial. This micro-adjustable dial is complemented with lower Ergo straps for greater stability over the forefoot area, which tends to move excessively under power.
The Crossmax Elite prevents uncomfortable pressure points with a supportive Ortholite footbed cradling your foot with every pedal stroke. This supportive footbed resides over Mavic's Energy Grip Terra sole, which provides an optimal blend of pedaling efficiency and outright grip when you dismount from your bike. Although it's not clad with carbon, this sole provides enough pedaling efficiency for all but the most discerning of cross-country riders and racers. It's covered with Contagrip rubber lugs for plentiful grip when you're forced to dismount and walk your bike uphill or shoulder it over slabby rock sections.
- Streamlined efficiency and grip for cross-country racing
- Thin, aerodynamic uppers comfortably conform to your feet
- Ergo Dial QR provides a secure, micro-adjustable fit
- Lower Ergo straps stabilize the forefoot under power
- Ortholite footbed cradles and supports your feet
- Energy Grip Terra sole balances efficiency with grip
- Contagrip rubber lugs enable traction, even in the wet

These are a great looking shoe, and quality made. They were true to size, but not wide enough for my feet.

I read previous reviews that said these ran really small, so I ordered a half size larger (US) as a precaution. They finally arrived but were a half inch too large. I could comfortably fit my thumb behind my heel. I will likely have to wait a while now due to COVID precautions to get the right size. Shoe looks and feels great. Feel safe ordering your regular shoe size.

Mavic's Boa-style closures break quickly

Shoes were fine. A little narrow for my tastes. The grip on the bottom was okay. The upper was solid and seemed like it would last. Closures broke quickly. They got twisted in the ratchet system and quickly stopped opening wide enough for my feet. Had to return them. Thanks to returns for at least giving me store credit minus the return shipping. It was my first experience with boa style closures. I will try real BOA 1 more time and then it's back to Velcro if there is an issue.

I bought the same size as a previous Version of Mavic that I owned and loved but alas they were too small. Possibly 2 European sizes too small. I know there are manufacturing tolerances but they were too narrow and too short. I want my cycling shoes to be perfect and these weren't. I decided to return and not try a different size. Disappointed but i have 2 other pairs of shoes that I wear. I was just trying to anticipate when my old Mavic will break. Price and style was exactly what I was looking for.

Bought on another site and overpaid... but, the shoes are awesome. The best part is the tongue, sort of a full inner-wrap tongue, very comfortable. Two velcro and one boa are perfect for fitment, i don't like boa's that control multiple adjustment zones. This is a do it all pair, i wear for road, MTB, townie cruise, whatever requires pedaling.

Broken out of the box.

This shoe looks good but when I took it out of the box, I couldn't even put them on my feet because the tightening dial was broken. For a mountain bike shoe, you want something a lot more durable.

Bought these when I bought a MTB. I use SPD’s on commuter bikes, but that doesn’t cut it off road. One review stated these shoes as small, and I was apprehensive about buying my normal size. I am a 44 in every shoe I own, and I did the same here. The fit is perfect. Support in the heal cup, and my arch lines up perfectly. The toe box is more shallow than some shoes, but unless you have a wide foot it should be perfect. They are light enough not to be clunky, and solid when clipped in. I’m very happy with its performance so far. No hot spots.

Great shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Power transfer is fantastic. Noticeable increase, from my Adidas 5/10s (which had MTB clips as well). Lose one star because they are extremely small. I wear 47EU / 12US in my Sidis. Went 12.5US / 12UK hoping they would give me enough room for a thicker soft (for cooler weather riding). These are so tight that I must wear a thin sock and even then they are tight. Hoping they stretch, but not holding my breath (because of the coating at the toe box. I would buy these again, but would definitely up-size.

Great fit Great shoe

Needed to up my mtb shoe game. Came across these when looking to replace some worn out shoes. After a couple of rides I am thoroughly impressed. The cable system is infinitely adjustable. Coupled with an easy release - just spin it out prevents overtightening on the cable. . This cross max elite shoe gives solid performance of direct power transmission to the pedals. Great shoe.

FYI - I just bought a pair from that big online site because I won a gift card from my employer, making the price unbeatable. Back to this shoe - I bought this shoe because I have an older pair of Mavic Crossfits that have the rachet-type clamp which clamps down very tight and have never failed. I wanted another pair of Mavics based on the quality of the first pair - after years of use, they have finally worn out. I haven't used my new pair yet but tried them in the house and I cannot get them to tighten as well as my old pair. So I don't know about their long-term durablility, but I do know I can't get them as tight. I will say that this BOA-thing looks very flimsy. I just hope they last like my old Mavics.
