When Marzocchi first released the Bomber Z1 suspension fork it was well ahead of its time. Other mountain bike forks prioritized weight over performance. The Z1 changed that by being the first to truly focus on improving ride quality and handling. Riders started pushing the limits on more challenging terrain, breathing new life to the sport and building quite a following for Marzocchi. We were sad when Marzocchi closed its doors several years ago, but thankfully they are back with a new Bomber Z1, re-awakened by Fox Racing Shox. The Bomber Z1 27.5 170 Grip Sweep-Adj Boost Fork features a plush air spring, a proven damper, and a sturdy 36mm chassis. This version is geared towards aggressive all-mountain and enduro style riding, offering reliable, no-nonsense performance at a price that leaves you with plenty of cash left over for epic riding trips.

The Bomber Z1 has 6.7in of plush travel, making it well-suited to steep, technical trails and the rigors of enduro racing. This amount of travel lets you charge into chunky rock gardens with confidence and composure. Or maybe you'd rather just gap over the rocks instead. With this much travel it's your choice.

The travel comes from a FLOAT EVOL air spring. EVOL stands for "extra volume" in reference to the increased negative air volume, which makes the initial travel more sensitive for buttery-smooth small-bump compliance. The mid-stroke is supportive to help resist fork dive when you grab the brakes on steep descents. As you near the end of the travel the bottom-out progression is smooth, helping to prevent harshness on larger impacts. The air spring's progression can be tuned by adding or removing volume spacers, if needed.

Damping duties are handled by the FIT GRIP damper—a proven design known for durability and consistency. GRIP lets you focus on the trail, instead of worrying about your equipment. The damper has uncomplicated adjustments that simplify setup so you can get out riding sooner. There is just one compression dial and one rebound dial. The compression dial combines high and low-speed compression in a sweeping design, meaning it turns from fully open to lockout with no clicks, letting you stop anywhere along the way once the setting feels right.

With a long travel fork like this it's important to have a stiff chassis. Stout 36mm stanchions and heavy-duty lowers help prevent unwanted flex, ensuring the Bomber Z1 tracks well during hard riding.
