Description

Why We Like The Mondo Evo Bib Shorts

For Louis Garneau's Mondo Evo Bib Shorts, it brings together three high-tech fabrics, each one specifically designed and chosen to excel at its intended purpose and location on the bibs. And while comfort trumps style when it comes to bibs, these bibs manage to blend both. They are available in colors that complement jerseys already in your wardrobe, making the Mondo perfect to pick up if you are completing a kit, especially if your current bibs are a little worse for the wear and have seen better days.

The Mondo Evo bib shorts incorporate the advanced Cell-Ion fabric for form-fitting compression. Cell-Ion contains Celliant, a revolutionary technology that returns reflected energy to the body to trigger increased blood flow and oxygen levels. This, in conjunction with the 10-panel construction, results in increased performance with less fatigue and greater overall comfort. Many shorts offer some sort of sun protection these days and the Mondo Evo is no exception and steps it up to provide a hefty UPF 50 rating, protecting your legs from harsh UV exposure on long summer rides where you typically don't apply sunscreen. Cell-Ion is constructed with 17% premium Invista Lycra, providing maximum stretch and compression beyond the basic knit of most bibs. This super Lycra allows for an impressive range of motion and a supportive fit that stabilizes muscles, reducing fatigue.

Carbon X Mesh panels handle the bib and strap duties, for its increase wicking and breathability where restricted airflow can prove stifling in warmer conditions. The textured mesh prevents it from sticking to your skin offering maximum ventilation. Resistex carbon fiber, the third material, contains antistatic properties and provides additional stretch and sun protection. At the leg openings, wide Aero Lazer bands provide a snug and compressive fit that holds the hem in place without silicone grippers that most shorts require. The high spandex content in the fabric provides a 4-way stretch that returns to place season after season preventing you from tugging them back into place on every pedal stroke.

These bibs feature the 4Motion chamois complete with 3D pre-shaped wings that have a mesh vented split on the rear for increased ventilation while allowing the chamois to articulate and move with you. The wings are seamless and sit snugly against your thighs to prevent chafing and friction. Mesh-lined perforations at the front of the chamois offer an increase of air circulation helping to keep you cool and dry. The multi-density, perforated memory foam is also ergonomically designed with a central channel that helps relieve pressure over long rides. Finally, the four-way stretch 4Motion chamois is topped with a carbon sheet to combat odor and improve hygiene.

Rounding out details, these shorts feature a back radio pocket, for racing duties and reflective logos to help improve visibility to drivers in low-light conditions.

  • Bib shorts that prize comfort and performance
  • 10-panel construction hugs muscles in an ergonomic design
  • Support your muscles with compressive Cell-Ion fabric
  • Carbon X mesh bib and straps keep you cool and wick sweat
  • Perforated memory foam chamois relieves pressure on long rides
  • Seamless inner thighs reduce chafing in sensitive areas
  • Laser-cut leg openings stay in place without silicone grip

I love the shoulder straps on these bibs and also the overall look. But man, it is very uncomfortable in the crotch! I thought for a minute I had purchased women's bibs they were that uncomfortable.

These shorts are *almost* great, but one design choice ruined them for me. The material used in the leg grippers - and also, inexplicably, a diagonal pattern across the front of each thigh - is terrible. Thin as a sheet of plastic wrap, almost totally transparent, and doesn't stretch as readily as the rest of the material in the shorts. Sent them back after a test fit - didn't even bother trying to ride in them. The fit is far too weird. It's a bummer, because the main material of the shorts, the overall fit (sizing, bib strap length, etc) and the chamois all seemed top-notch. I wish kit makers would stop putting different materials in their shorts just for the sake of marketing. Went with the more basic "Fit Sensor 3" shorts, and while the chamois on those isn't as impressive, the shorts material is at least consistently comfortable throughout the entire leg.

Went on my first ride today in these. The material is top notch. Soft, flexible and breathable. After 15 miles on a rough mountain bike trail I give them 5 stars.

After a disappointing purchase of a pair of Fit Sensor 3 bib shorts, I decided to splurge a bit on these bib shorts. They are worth the money (especially now that they are on sale). Well made with high tech fabric, incredibly comfortable fit, and a chamois that is well designed for long rides. The compression bands at the bottoms are not too constricting and keep the shorts in place during a ride. The only unusual feature of these shorts is their length - with an 11.25 inch inseam, they are among the longest shorts around. This means that they come close to your knees when standing but I found that when I was actually on the bike, the length was fine. Great bib shorts, especially for long rides.

First 2 rides were 30 milers and they were as comfortable, if not a bit more than my "go to" Specialized RBX Comp Bibs. They cost a little more, but I believe they may actually have a better chamois pad than the RBX Comp's! May just need to get myself another pair. I'm 5'7" and 169lbs, so not your typical "skinny" rider! The medium fit perfect.

Love these, Fit is great, overall a little more snug than other LG shorts and bibs but not uncomfortable. The 4 motion chamois is Legit! Definitely my new go to for longer rides. It does have an Odd mid/upper back pocket? Not sure what that’s all about. Pretty useless imo other than that I’d buy again.

I really like the overall feel of these. The fabric is nice, the fit is great and they look good. They don’t ride up or climb up you log like others. Plenty of fabric while also being compressive. Nice height up the torso as well. I’d give these a 5 if they had a better chamois. The bibs are endurance but the chamois is not. I have another pair of LG’s with the same chamois that I generally only wear on the indoor trainer. These are better than that. A sturdier chamois would make these perfect. I’d say these are great for 20/25 mile rides when you really want to give it some gas. I did a 50 in these today and my butt hurts. I picked up a second pair of these but in grey. For whatever reason the chamois feels a little bit nicer. The colored bands I could take or leave, but I would say I'm more pleased overall. I've been riding The Black Bibs Plus before I got these. I have a ton of chaffing from them and had to stop using them. These have a much better fabric that interacts with my skin. I wouldn't call it as high end as some other bibs, but this is a nice pair of bibs. Both of them I bought on sale...if these were say $130...I'd give them 5 starts. I picked up my 3rd pair of these on sale again. The 3rd pair has the upgraded chamois as well. My first pair did not last long. They got a hole in them in the first year that I had to patch. They have been relegated to "indoor trainer bibs". The 2nd pair are still great. They are super comfortable but I don't love the grey bands. Hopefully the latest pair, in black with the new chamois, is the best of both worlds. Longer term review here. All 3 pairs have holes in them on the inner thigh. Some on the right side some on the left. I ride 3 different bikes, so I doubt there is something rubbing against on just one of the bikes. Could have been the wash, could have been something else...but all three now have patches on them covering the holes.

What can I say...great bibs for road and some gravel as well. Will maybe buy a second pair--RE: sizing, I've never bought a large in any short, but I may try it next time. It's very fitted around the leg--moreso than any other bib or short I've worn in a medium.

Love these bibs, being on the heavy side I have a hard time finding bibs/chamois' that prevent soreness while in the saddle for 60 min+. Out of all of the bibs I've tried Louis Garneau are the most comfortable. Only downside is after months of riding and losing some weight they are getting a little big for me now, but that isn't a bad problem to have :)

I am 5'10 and weigh about 190. I purchased a large and it fits well. These are by far the most comfortable bibs that I own. I used to wear lower priced shorts available on sites like Amazon. After purchasing these I will never go back. As a matter of fact, I have since bought another pair. I have worn them on 60+ mile rides and have had no problems

These are my go to bibs. These fit me perfect and have great support for those long rides. Im a big fan of LG, the quality of these bibs is much better than my Specialized set. I have had these for almost two years now and I am only starting to see minor indications of saddle wear. On the other hand my other shorts/bibs you can see the marks from where my shorts hit the saddle after a few months. As long as you take care of them (hand wash only) they will serve you well and last a long time. I just bought another pair on sale 50% off for the TDF stage 2 deal, can't beat it!!!!

Extremely tight leg bands, but fit well everywhere else, so sizing up wasn't an option. I'm keeping them with the hope that they loosen a bit over time.
