Great New Design From LG
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- True to size
- Size Bought
- 5` 5"
- 125 lbs
When I saw this new "District" jersey model it looked like LG was finally moving on from it's barely-evolving jersey designs. It has a some new features I'd never seen before on an LG jersey: full-length mesh side panels and longer sleeves ending in wide/grippy lycra arm bands. The colors/patterns were also (to my eyes) more elegant. I ordered the "Green Strips" color which seems as elegant (yet not boring) as anything LG has ever made (though it won't quite jump out at motorists eyes so order the blue or red if you want that). I have a cyclist's 125lb. build with a 35" chest and 29" waist and the sz. Small jersey provides my preferred slightly-relaxed fit. It is nicely conforming in the waist/mid-section, but a bit looser than I’d like across the chest and the ends of the lycra arm bands are also a bit loose (those I can at least take in). So if you have a more V-shaped build and bigger biceps than me (mine are like pencils) then this should fit you even better. For those with a bicyclist's build that want a tighter fit you'll probably need to size down or look elsewhere (LG says this jersey has "a standard fit that accommodates different body shapes" which probably means that it wasn't designed to be worn aero race-tight). OTOH this is not a true relaxed-fit jersey either (unless you size up perhaps?). So I guess "standard fit" means "semi-relaxed", or...whatever.... Finally I like the new lighter main material they're using. It's fairly thin and with a lightly mesh texture to it but not so sheer that it's see-through or can't be used for cooler days with the right base layer on. The jersey also has a full 360deg silicone waist gripper. About the only feature missing is a zippered security pocket which is nice to have but something I never knew I needed (OK so maybe the gravel riding craze has changed my mind about that). I'm happy to see that LG has finally stepped up their game with this new design. They now have a model that outclasses most other $100 jerseys available today. Let's hope this is just the beginning for a brand that seemed to me like it was fading away into irrelevance!
