Why We Like The Keo Blade Carbon Pedals

We look no further than the Look Keo Blade Carbon Pedals for top-end pedaling performance. Aerodynamic and stiff, the Look pedals are a favorite for getting the most power out of every pedal stroke. These pedals are used by ourselves and pros and have an incredible list of Palmares to go with them. The blades can be replaced as well, so it’s easy to adjust them for a tighter or freer fit.

Really Good, But Room to Improve

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I really like Look pedals, and have owned multiple pair of Keo Classics (and Favero that are Look compatible). My newest bike has a crank-based PowerMeter, so I splurged on the blades. They are a really neat and tidy look, and if you’re a gram-counter (admittedly I’m not) they are an excellent option. The contact patch is nice and wide, and clipping in is as easy as you could want. There are, however, a couple of downsides. Adjusting tension is a massive pain because you have to disassemble the entire pedal to swap out the carbon blade. This requires two torx wrenches of different sizes. That is really a poor design decision in my opinion. The other complaints are very minor - clipping in is very easy, but the engagement is far less noticeable than with other pedals and I’ve had a few occasions where I thought I was clipped, but wasn’t…dangerous if you’re going to mash the power down without confirming that you are, in fact, clipped in which I don’t need to do on any other pedal system because I know instantly. These also make a lot more noise than other pedals. There is a very pronounced squeak when any of the float is taken advantage of. All in all, the pedals are very solid, transfer power well, look great, and save grams.
