Keo 2 Max Road Pedals

For riders who finance their own cycling aspirations, equipment choices can involve some pretty intense cost to benefit analysis to get the most out of every dollar. Thanks to a polyamide composite pedal body, the Look Cycle Keo 2 Max Road Pedals go toe-to-toe with their Keo 2 Max Carbon counterparts, without the carbon price tag.

The Keo 2 utilizes the same stainless steel wear plate found in the Keo 2 Carbon to give riders a wide, stable platform to transfer power and distribute pressure. This gives the pedal a solid feel when clipped in and reduces the potential for uncomfortable pressure points disrupting a ride. By widening only the top of the pedal to 60mm, Look achieved an increase in stability, compared to older versions of the Keo 2 at 57mm, as to not impact cornering clearance.

A redesigned spindle profile reduces friction, improves smoothness, and decreases play. The Keo 2 Max Road Pedals have an adjustable cleat release tension ranging from 8-12Nm, and are compatible with Look cleats that come in three float options to customize the pedal system to your specific ride preferences.

  • A quality road pedal big on value
  • Composite body and stainless steel cleat contacts add reliability
  • Low pedal stack height for excellent power transfer
  • Wider profile adds stability
  • New spindle design reduces friction and play
  • Adjustable tension and float for fine tuning

New Keo Max user

I've put it through the wringer

Switched from Shimano SPD-SL to Look Keo 2 Max since my pedal based power meter uses Look style cleats. The Keo's are not quite as wide a base as the Shimano's but work fine. Recommend these over the Keo Classic as the narrower base of the Classic's is noticeable. Apart from the slight weight advantage, I couldn't find a reason to choose the Keo Carbons. Haven't found any clip-out problems as noted by some others. Comfortable float with the gray Keo cleats. Do agree that the Keo cleats seem to wear a little less well than Shimano's.

Do they come with Cleats?

very hard

I've used it several times

I have almost fallen several times try to clip out, on the lightest setting they are very hard to get out of. I have had Look pedals in the past and wanted to upgrade BIG Mistake. no help from Competitive Cyclist very disappointed .

I've used it several times

I’ve always been a fan of look peddles. These ones are no different. Easy to click in and out of. Stiff under load and enough movement my knees don’t get sore.

Previous Q&A response states that cleats/mounting hardware are included with these pedals. Are the included cleats 4.5 or 9 degree cleats?

Hey Greg - the pedals come with the grey 4.5 degree cleats and mounting hardware

Are cleats included or do they need to be purchased separately?

Christopher, These pedals will includes the cleats and all the mounting hardware.
