When compromising safety isn't an option.

When riding through the night, there's no substitute for good ol' lumens. The Light & Motion Urban 800 Plus Vis 180 Combo Light Kit serves up a whopping 870 total lumens, making it the brightest urban riding combo the company offers, and a very safe bet when you refuse to compromise an ounce of safety.

Cranking out an impressive 800 lumens, the Urban 800 is a veritable spotlight for the road or trail. It not only helps you see, it virtually guarantees that you are seen, as well. The 800 can be mounted on your helmet or handlebar with the included flexible mounting system. Aware of the dreaded “snowball” effect of some lights that concentrate their focus on a small area of the beam, engineers at L&M custom-engineered a reflector system that evenly and smoothly disperses all 800 lumens of LED light across your depth of field as you ride. Obstacles both near and far are detected as you approach them, not only as you turn your gaze toward them. The result is a more relaxed and natural nighttime riding experience. Amber-colored sidebars of light on the unit, as well as a IP67 (very good) waterproof rating, ensure that you’re not only visible from any angle, but that you’re visible in any weather, too.

Out back, you get a Vis 180, a 70-lumen taillight that's been updated for 2014. A dual LED array is broadcasted rearward via a precision-engineered series of reflectors that cast a wide and bright beam for excellent visibility. The light weights a mere 102 grams thanks to its lightweight aluminum casing. As on the Urban 800 up front, there's amber side lighting to perpendicular visibility, and a four-level battery charge status indicator.

The Light & Motion Urban 800 Plus Vis 180 Combo Light Kit comes in one color set (Anchor Steam/Silver Moon), and both lights are rechargeable via USB.

Awesome but, you pay for it.

When I got my commuter, the first thing I said is I am going to spend some $$ on lights. I ride at night, and I dont want to be hit by a car. Not always in your control but, because of these lights, I am putting the odds in my favor.

They are really bright. The rear one pulses and thats perfect. I think its less distracting than blinking but, more noticeable than a straight red light. Battery time far exceeds the front light, which is expected.

The front light's battery dies a lot quicker. I had to start using a lower setting but, to be honest you dont need the highest setting. I use the low setting when I am cruising around, bump up to the high setting if I am moving fast and need to see far ahead of me to stay safe.

My front light died within 15 days of use. Light & Motion had a brand new one on my door within 2 days. Things break, thats just a fact. Light & Motion helping me out without questions speaks a lot to their company, super happy with them.

The side lights are awesome, definitely make you more visible side to side.

Water proof as far as I can tell. It was raining pretty hard the night of this picture.

Good lights

This is a really great commuter set. The back light has a really great run time between charges. I have about an 1 1/2 hour commute and during the darker winter months these serve great. Upsides: really bright, the side lights are great for allowing visibility on the sides, they're pretty durable, water resistant. Being rechargable is also great. The downsides: they're pretty pricey, and for my 1 1/2 hour commute I have to make sure I put them back on the USB to recharge. Overall I would certainly recommend.
