Steel Travel Floor Pump

Steel is real. You don't often hear that when describing pumps, but there is something timeless and rock-solid about a steel pump shaft. The Lezyne Steel Travel Floor Drive Pump features a steel barrel and piston, topped by a solid varnished wood handle, and an aluminum base.

It's designed to fit in compact spaces. A small trunk, a suitcase, the bottom of a bike bag, or even a travel case. To that end, the pump is 20 inches tall. And the overall package is shallower than Lezyne's other floor pumps at 2.3 inches and narrower at 7.5 inches. Small touches make a difference when cramming as much gear as possible in a small space, so that the hose is a shade under 20 inches and it is in line with the gauge and barrel is a great thing. The gauge has been narrowed to a diameter of 1.5in to take up less space as well.

One place where you'll find no changes is at the chuck. It still as the Flip Chuck with ABS bleed valve, so you can pump up both Schrader and Presta tubes. The included Speed Chuck is a great add-on for people who prefer slip-on pump chucks. It also sports a 90-degree angle, so it can fit in the valve port of disc wheels.

The Lezyne Steel Travel Floor Drive Pump measures 20 x 7.5 x 2.3in (508 x 190 x 60mm). The handle is 9.5in. The claimed weight is 2.4lbs (1.1kg). The interior diameter of the barrel is 28mm, which means the pump has been optimized for high pressure applications. The color is Gloss Black.

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this as a travel pump for road use as it fits in a full size suitcase no prob. Appears well built and has capability to reach road bike tire pressures, until you try to use it. The weak link is the cheap plastic head that comes with the pump. Other reviews describe a head that screws onto the Presta stem. The one I bought had a 90degree cheap plastic head that slipped onto the stem and held in place by an O ring(Lezyne's 'Speed Chuck'). The O ring held up to 50lbs until the head blew apart leaving the O ring, and plastic threaded ring that holds the O ring in place, on the stem. Trying to tighten the plastic threaded ring to finger tightness causes it to jump a thread. Getting the tire to near pressure was a two handed affair as you had to hold the head on the stem with one and pump with the other. PITA. The hose threads into the wood handle, which is a little show-offy, as it is completely useless when the cheap plastic head is installed on the hose, leaving the hose to flop around. If you remove the cheap plastic head every time to use this feature your bound to lose it(See in Datailed Images in product description) The pump itself is well made and would prob be a great tool to have but in present config doesn't work for me. Too bad the cheap part takes it out of the running

Solid build, finicky valve chuck

The pump is built solid, steel construction, sexy wood handle (if you appreciate such a thing). Overall size is great for traveling. My only compliant is the valve chuck screws onto the outer stem of Presta valves and while detaching the chuck it’s very possible to unscrew and remove the valve core. It’s deflating when that occurs. If there’s a “secret” technique to using the chuck consistently my “man-mind” has yet to find it.

Great for the Backseat

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This pump is great looking and seems like it will last forever. Just be aware that it is a smaller pump with a short hose. I guess thats why they call it a travel pump.

Compact, Good Volume, & Easy to Use

I've used it several times

I purchased this pump to leave in my car. I wanted something compact and something that wouldn't take up too much space. The pump can lay flat, which makes packing the rest of your gear easy. For the size, I think the air volume is great. I didn't think it took too much time to air up mtn bike tires, relative to a standard floor pump. It has a large pressure gauge and easily adjustable between presta and schrader. The hose is a little short, but, it is a travel pump. My only complaint is that you need to make sure your presta valve cores are tightened before attaching the threaded presta pump head. If not, when you take off the pump head, then the valve core comes out with it. However, this is true of all pumps w/ this style pump head.

Thanks to Ryan I was going to exchange it and he told me what a great pump it was and taught me how to use it correctly now I'm sold one at home and one I keep in nt vehicle. Securely screws on valve without holding valve while pumping air! I highly recommend.

Great pump after I was told how to use. Small enough to leave in vehicle. Really works well. I have purchased two of these pumps. Wooden handle is very nice.

Beautifully made, one major mistake

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a gorgeous bike pump. I never thought I'd say that about an air pump, but the black body with wooden handle just looks very nice. The pump is strong and the presta valve attachment is great. One problem, that cost this product a 5 star review, the hose is just too short. It might not be a problem depending on your bike and size but my size large santa cruz bronson has trouble with this product. When I flip the bike onto the seat to pump up the air, the hose barley reaches the rear tire nozzle but it works. It does not reach the front tire at all. honestly less than 2", its frustratingly close... Anyways, great product with a short hose, id probably buy the non-travel version just for the longer hose if i had a chance to re-do this purchase

radass pump

I've used it several times

I'm loving this pump i love how the valve actually screws on to the tube valve so you dont have to hold it on there hoping it stays and it pushes the air very quickly i got my tires up to 100 psi in about 9 or 10 pumps
