Description

Mighty illumination from a tiny package.

Designed to enhance safety for commuters, urban messengers, and everyday cyclists, the Lezyne Micro Drive Tail Light is the brightest single-LED tail light in Lezyne's collection with a whopping 180 lumens in Day Flash mode. In full Blast mode, the Micro Drive projects a constant 30 lumens of red illumination to passing traffic. It's made of CNC-machined aluminum for rugged durability and weather-resistance, all while retaining an extremely lightweight and compact design. The single-LED light features side slits for a greater range of visibility, projecting light 180 degrees to passing motorists on the road.

One of the coolest features with the Micro Drive Tail Light lies in its integrated charging, which allows you to screw off the rear cap and plug in the USB stick for convenient power at home and work. Moreover, there's intelligent power monitoring with the on/off switch illuminating with different colors to indicate remaining power levels. It comes with a snap-fit mount with a silicone strap, so you can attach it to virtually any seatpost on the market. This snap-fit mount allows you to pop the light out while you're headed inside, so thieves won't steal it from your bike.

Good

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The light is bright enough, been through rain and still works perfectly after a couple of months.

Avg. ride time: 4h 38m per week

Works well, stays attached.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Originally, I had the prior version of this light. It worked well until an early season wet ride caused it to malfunction, then stop working. A perplexed Lezyne customer service rep asked me to mail it back to them, and they sent me the current version as a replacement.

Aside from the first one dying on me, they both work very well. I have had no problems with the light staying put in the holder, even on gravel. It's bright and cars seem to give me more room.

Thanks for the awesome review Mark!

Good Light, Poor Mount

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a decent light but I don't care for the mount. The light is bright, has good settings and a solid battery life, it's also easy to charge. It clicks into the plastic mount quite securely, but it stick straight out from the seatpost in such a way that it wobbles around a fair bit. Maybe on smooth pavement it would be fine but on rough roads it can bounce around. The vertical angle isn't really adjustable either, so with some seattube angles it end up pointing down towards just behind the rear tire.
