Gather all the data.

Lezyne's Macro GPS HRSC Loaded Bike Computer builds on the functionality of the Macro GPS unit by adding a heart rate sensor and cadence/speed sensor to the mix to complete the package of necessary ride data. The head unit itself essentially puts the stellar utility of the Mini GPS onto a larger, more user-friendly footprint that mirrors that of the top-tier Super GPS. It's still a streamlined addition to the cockpit, and the larger screen provides an option for those who want an affordable GPS head unit with intuitive simplicity but without giving up screen readability.

Compared to the more expensive Super GPS model, the Macro GPS drops features like Glonass connectivity, ANT+, and the built-in barometer and accelerometer. None of these omissions hamper the Macro's essential mission of providing satellite-generated data to record and improve your ride experience unless you're planning a gravel tour through desolate wilderness or only own ANT+ accessories. Those omissions are even less noticeable in the presence of Lezyne's new Ally app, which allows the Macro GPS to sync with a smartphone to provide live navigation and Strava syncing.

The Macro GPS reads, displays, and records Bluetooth Smart broadcasts from power meters, cadence sensors, heart rate monitors, and any other Bluetooth-equipped ancillaries you bring along for the ride. As the name suggests, global positioning is still the most important aspect of the Macro's game, and its GPS-related feature list includes displaying speed, distance, and elevation. This is supplemented with the usual suspects: laps, temperature, battery life of the Macro and auxiliaries, and the strength of the GPS signal. In short, it's virtually every measurement you need to map yourself on a bike.

The high-resolution display may lack the bling of colorful touchscreen options, but it also doesn't wash out under sunlight and has a backlight function for those days when you get caught under a spring storm or are out for an evening spin after work. You can also toggle between km and miles in the menu, which eliminates the need to memorize complex button combinations to check your trip distance in metric terms. All of this functionality perches securely atop your bar or stem with Lezyne's included X-Lock bracket.
