If your mom had her way, every time you went out to ride the lifts and launch yourself over a few big ones, both you and your DH rig would be wrapped in bubble wrap. And that would be after you turned down her pleading to just go over to her place and eat some homemade cookies on the couch. You don't have time for either of those options, but grabbing Leatt's 3DF Body Tee could be a compromise that makes you and Mom happy.

Leatt takes its safety seriously, but the company also understands how to make body armor that's practical to actually ride in. On the 3DF Body Tee, it uses its softshell 3DF foam to provide lightweight, breathable protection along your chest, torso, back, and shoulders. This foam is flexible under normal conditions for easy mobility, but hardens up instantly upon impact to shield your body. Leatt's stretchy, odor-resistant MoistureCool and AirMesh fabrics comprise the main body of the tee, while an off-center zipper makes it relatively uncomplicated to get in and out of. Once you have it on, the tee is flexible and easy to move around in, and it's finished with an elastic chest strap that allows for further fit adjustments and built-in compatibility with Leatt neck braces.

Do something stupid and save your bacon

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L/XL

What a great way to keep yourself safe. I looked at a lot of the chest and back body armor setups and part of the reason this went to the top of my list is the fact that the zipper goes to the side of the chest and not up the center. What if you happen to take the steer tube straight center to the chest. An added feature that I didn't realize till picking it up is that it has a pad in the back protector that can be removed to accommodate the LEATT neck brace and it also has a couple of loops to hold the neck brace as well.

With the Idea of stepping up my protection game I love this piece so far. I could feel how well ventilated it is on the lifts and it never felt like I was bogged down or padded up like a football player but I did feel protected.

The size chart is awful in my opinion and does not list a chest size only height. My chest is 42" i'm 5'9 32" inseam and 175lbs. The L/XL fit just fine, perhaps a bit loose but not so much I would want to go down in size.

Great protection and fit

Picked this up from Backcountry last summer when I got my Wreckoning LB. No negatives or concerns. Fits great. Really comfortable. Don’t even know you have it on. Ventilates well on hot days. Protection in all the right places. Especially like the shoulder protection to protect the shoulder and clavicles. Yeah, I’d recommend it! Well worth the investment.

    High quality protection

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I almost went with a cheaper chest/back/shoulder protector, but decided to spend the money on this. Upon opening the item, I understand why it’s expensive- its really nice and fits well, striking a great balance between being low profile and some serious protection. I like the tee shirt model because I wanted shoulder pads but wanted to pair my own elbow protection (for a variety of reasons-durability, removability without having to take off shirt, also the ability to choose elbow pads. For reference I’m 5”10.5 and 150 lbs, and the L/XL fits great, you should base your measurement off of height not weight, as the length of torso is mostly what the sizes refer to (may be too long or short otherwise) and the protector adjusts for different chest sizes. Also, this is a compression shirt so it is supposed to be tight and i feel like if you are a bigger guy, expect it to be tight because although I have to tighten the chest straps the L/XL is by no means a loose fit.

I will be using this for dh lift/shuttle laps (you could climb in it but it would be really hot and too much extra weight for me). My mobility is still great while wearing this but i can already tell that it could make a huge difference in the event of a bad crash. I have recently purchased a number of leatt products and have been pretty impressed with their quality overall, After some lengthy research I think I’ve found exactly what I was looking for and wanted to take the time to do a review and also thank my gearhead Brooklynn and the rest of The awesome folks at backcountry for helping me find what I need to Be able to rip it up and hopefully not rip myself up!!

Also, I would post pics of mine but just google image search (make sure to include “lite” as there is a regular model of this compression shirt) if you want to see what it looks like on an actual person. Also, my medium jersey that fits a bit looser on me regularly still fits right over this thing and you can tell I’m wearing pads it but I don’t look totally stupid. Also, where I ride is generally cooler even in the summer, but pretty much any body protection is going to be borderline miserable on a really hot day. But you know what else Is miserable? Broken bones and digging gravel out of wounds. Cheers ✌🏼

    Comfortable insurance.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this to upgrade from hard plastic 661 armor for my bike park days. This is leaps and bounds more comfortable and has bonus kidney/hip protection that many don’t have. Relatively breathable and easy to get on and off. It’s comfortable, but you certainly won’t forget you are wearing it. Down side is that I had to return one because the shoulder pad was snapped in two upon arrival. Fortunately I can’t report on how it performs in a big crash. A warning though, your confidence will increase because it feels really safe, and you’ll catch yourself taking jumps and lines you might have second guessed before.
