MX238 SuperCross Wide Cycling Shoe
As cyclocross continues to be refined as a sport and differentiate itself from other off-road disciplines, Lake pursues progress towards the ideal cyclocross shoe. And the MX238 SuperCross stands as a benchmark in cyclocross-centric design to help keep you pacing out consistently powerful laps. In the worst of conditions, when you're layered with mud and scraping debris against your crank arms, the durable Helcor Abrasion resistant leather maintains its strength and performance. Off the bike the Hook Lycra heel liner holds tight as you clamber up steep levy walls. And slipping and sliding are minimized with the Claw Spike, at the front of the MX238, providing traction that you don’t have to add accessory toe-spikes to achieve.
Lake sees cyclocross as primarily an on-the-bike sport — which is probably everyone's goal…to remain riding — and integrates just enough rubber-sole meat to aid running without adding bulk that saps riding energy. Adding to the on-the-bike mentality is the Lake Competition 100% Carbon Fiber Sole that funnels watts directly to the pedals. And BOA IP-1 S dials are simple and fast to use for final adjustments on the pavement setting up for the sprint.
- Cyclocross-focused carbon shoe that pushes performance
- Abrasion-resistant leather upper braces for a full CX season
- Carbon fiber sole with racing-specific rubber for performance grip
- Boa dials for pressure-point free comfort
- Integrated Claw Spike for traction in the fun stuff
- Wider,EE-width platform for larger feet

I had Lake road shoes for my road bike but my biking involves stopping for breakfasts, or on long rides, lots of stops for water/snacks.......road shoes are just becoming too uncomfortable for that kind of biking. So, liking Lake shoes, I ordered these and fitted them with "old" Speedplay Frogs (actually had a new set of Frogs as I use them for my mountain bike). I have ridden with them once, about 45 miles, and, after getting used to my Frogs again, settled in to an extremely comfortable ride! St very comfortable to walk in and comfortable on the bike. I do have wide feet (bunions!) and these work perfect. The Boa's are also fantastic for opening up the shoe to get them on and tightening them back down, so easy! Just like on my Lake road shoes. Highly recommend!

Tricky Sizing
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:
- Runs large
- Size Bought
- 42.5
- Weight
- 190 lbs
I measured my feet as described, tried it twice, you're talking about 5mm between half sizes, so it's easy to be off. Apparently I was. I wore a 42.5 in the Specailized MTB Pro Wide. I ended up ordering the 42.5 in this. My ankle slides right out. 42: Fit seemed right, but ankle pulled straight out. 41.5: Small enough that my feet were in pain just with them on, but maybe they'd stretch...but my ankle still pulls straight out. Regrettably looks like there is no "cup" in the heel to keep your foot in. Maybe its because I wear sock liners, socks without any padding, I don't know, but severely disappointed. They look awesome, they are stiff as heck, the tread looks great, but my feet won't stay in them.

Size runs small

I used the sizing chart on lake's site...US 10 = 43 and they are at least 1 size too small. I returned them before they were used. I wear a 44 in S works shoes and I suspect that is the proper size for these. They seem like really nice cross shoes and have a much better Boa than my S Works 6 XC shoes.
