MX176 Cycling Shoe
Lake realizes that to go fast, you must be comfortable which is why it creates the MX176 Cycling Shoe. Utilizing its MX Sport Last, it features a larger, roomier toe-box than its MX Comfort last, giving you a bit more real estate for your dogs during those marathon events without sacrificing efficiency. Lake calls the resulting fit aggressive yet comfortable, making it ideal for bike messengers, touring cyclists, or anyone else who plans on being in their cycling shoes for long periods of time.
Lake uses its Race Sole to transfer the power to the pedals and covers it with its Mountain Race X non-marking rubber outsole for grip anytime you are off the bike. The Clarino microfiber upper is soft and durable while its mesh panels keep your feet from overheating on long rides. The closure system consists of a side mounted push/pull BOA L6 lacing system up top with a hook-and-loop strap closer to the toes. The BOA uses a micro-cable that provides fine-tuning and evenly-distributes the closure eliminating pressure points and hot spots.
- A comfortable shoe build for long ride adventures
- Lake Race Sole balances pedaling efficiency and off the bike comfort
- Mountain Race X outsole hooks up on the hike-a-bike sections
- Soft and durable Clarino microfiber upper uses mesh panels for ventilation
- A BOA L6 dial and hook-and-loop strap secure the fit

My feet are problematic - wide and with a high arch. My old Shimano shoes pinched the ball of my foot until they "broke in," but even then they never really felt right. The Lake MX176 fits my problem feet right out of the box. Love the BOA lacing system - fast and easy to get the shoes on, same getting them off. Easy to tension the laces to get them just right. I wear a size 43 in Shimano, so that's what I ordered. Lake's sizing seems right on the money. I cycle commute and do long recreational rides, brevets and gravel. Did a 48 mile ride today, mix of pavement and gravel, and at the end, no sore toes or aches or pain. My next shoe will most definitely be a Lake.

not my fit
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Fit:
- Runs small
I ordered my normal size because of the wide toebox. These were very snug for me in the front and middle and my heel slipped out. I'll keep using my old Shimano's for now

5k miles and still are fantastic
- Familiarity:

- True to size
I usually don't write reviews, but I absolutely love these. My feet are a bit wide and they fit! I use them as a road shoe (150 miles a week) because I like to get off a bike and still be able to walk. I've easily tried on 50 different pairs over the year and after awhile you start to realize that most European manufacturers seem to run too narrow...for me. Lake, Specialized, Bontrager...all seem to fit better. Just one person's opinion, but I have not been disappointed with Lake's. They are not particularly light, but that's ok because they are sturdy.

I saw on the spec for these that they were meant for "hike a bike" situations, which is, well literally cyclocross. I've been pleased with how easy the leather is to clean after a crazy muddy race -- just take out the insoles and give it a gentle scrub and dry in front of a fan. super happy with these. do think they are just the tiniest bit big in the footbed but I am a woman so not sure if I should have found something more narrow!
