Without a doubt, our favorite non-bolt on bike accessory is shoes. New shoe day feels our hearts with glee and hopefully, our feet with comfort. It's no secret that we're fans of Lake shoes here and the CX 241 Road Shoe is no exception. Features like Boa closures, full-grain leather upper, and carbon sole check off everything we look for when shopping for new kicks. This wide-last version of the CX241 ensures we have the proper fit for all-day training rides and epic races.
This shoe is race-ready and looks great. The CX/TX Competition last still offers a roomy toe box but has a tighter heel, scaled for the wide last, than the Sport last found on some of Lake's other offerings for a snugger, glove-like fit that's perfect for high-cadence spinning and big wattage efforts. A heat moldable carbon heel counter allows for fine-tuning of the fit and the Nufoam lining feels like it's giving your foot a hugging embrace every time you put the shoes on. Down below, the lightweight and stiff Lake Race carbon fiber sole with drillings for a 3-hole road cleat put the power to the pedals.
Like we've seen on Lake's Endurance mountain bike shoes, the CX 241 gets hardier materials for the upper ensuring excellent durability and long life. Full-grain leather is supple, easily contouring to your foot's shape while the higher wear areas like the toe and heel receive Helcor Abrasion resistant leather for increased resilience. Dialing in the fit, and easy to adjust on the fly is the almost now ubiquitous dual side-mounted Push/Pull IP1 BOA lacing system with releasable lace guides.

Followed the Lake sizing guide. Added 5mm my foot measurement per the guide. Turns out it's not enough. Now I don't know how much more to add on my replacement order. ??

Great lightweight shoe&but&

Using the Lake sizing guide I ordered their recommended size. 45 wide. They felt small putting them on at first. Wore them for an hour and my feet started to adjust. But I am concerned that after a couple ride they will still feel tight. Toes don't seem to have any room. May end up returning. >-

This surpassed my expectations. I am 6'6" with size 16 extra wide feet. Bike shoes are always painful. These give full room for my toes and my feet feel relaxed and free the entire ride. The leather is high quality. They feel amazing the moment you put them on.

NO FOOT PAIN!

I have a narrow heal, high arches, and a wide set of toes that looks like Flinstone feet. I followed the Lake sizing chart and was right on the border of regular and wide. I ordered the regular size and had to exchange for a wide. My feet are only wide at the toes, so the two boas lets me tighten the top as much as I need and leave the toe boa a bit looser. I did use an insert. I have put them through about 1800 miles and have no issues with hot spots or the foot pain. I wore my prior pair of cheaper shoes about the same amount of miles and had just decided foot pain was part of it. Nope. The way they are made lets them shape to your feet. .

Weird style bad fit
I did all that Lake's website said to do. Measured my foot and ordered per the table..it did not work the shoe was too tight. Also the design is ugly but you can't see that in the pictures, it has separate side panels I guess to allow for the wide foot but once you were it it looks like the shoe is ripped.

My old shoes were causing me significant foot pain, I've had my eyes on the wide Lakes for awhile and decided to make a late-season purchase - I couldn't be more satisfied. I got them Monday and rode 20 miles, they were accurate to size and comfortable the minute I put them on. I was also pleasantly surprised at the additional power I was able to put up, especially climbing - I did 35 on Wednesday, 35 on Friday and 45 Sunday, these shoes are perfection and I haven't felt a single twinge of discomfort. Very happy and well worth the extra $$.
