CX218 Cycling Shoe
Lake builds its CX218 Cycling Shoe for high-cadence pedaling and fast riding. It uses high-quality materials throughout for race-level performance in a shoe that cost a lot less then you might imagine. This updated version changes from the Action Leather upper of the previous model and exchanges it for lighter, softer, and longer wearing Clarino Microfiber while its strategically placed mesh inserts and perforations throughout keeps air flowing through to keep your feet cooler. Anchoring them to your feet is a single side mounted BOA L6 lacing system and a hook-and-loop strap that customizes your fit and eliminates the potential of pressure points and hot spots for comfort on those all day rides. The CX/TT Competition Last increases toe pitch and heel lift to allow your foot to expand under high pedaling pressures, while the 100% carbon fiber Lake Race outsole keeps weight low and stiffness and strength high.- Lake's venerable CX218 shoe with a new upper material
- High performance and comfort blend in this racing shoe
- Clarino microfiber upper provides breathable, durable comfort

My first pair of road shoes were an entry pair of Shimano shoes. Nothing fancy. They were a good starter pair to get used to riding with clipless pedals. However, as I got more into riding, I noticed that they were painfully uncomfortable and I was developing hot spots. I then tried the Fizik R4. They were a solid pair of shoes, but last about 5,000 moles. Thank he upper was completely shot. I also found on 75+ mile rides that my feet would really become fatigued. I decided to give Lake shoes a try given that they kept coming up as a recommended brand on multiple Reddit discussions. James/Francis Cade also go on and on about how much they like this brand. I now have a few hundred miles on this pair, and I can’t get over how comfortable this road shoe is. The solid carbon sole is incredibly stiff. I always assumed a carbon reinforced sole was enough, but there is a noticeable difference. I also find that the shoe hugs my foot and it feels fitter appropriately in the arch. The toe box is narrower than I noticed from the other shoes I mentioned. But again, it feels more like It just fits. I no longer have any hot spots, discomfort or issues with my feet. I finally acknowledge that I have been wearing the wrong shoes for years. I do really recommend measuring your foot and using Lake’s sizing guide and information on their website. In the Shimano and Fizik shoes, I was a 44. I am a 44.5 in Lakes (10.5 US). I was a little nervous at first that they would be too big, but was glad I trusted their fit system.
