Why We Like The CX 241 Cycling Shoe

Without a doubt, our favorite non-bolt on bike accessory is shoes. New shoe day feels our hearts with glee and hopefully, our feet with comfort. It's no secret that we're fans of Lake shoes here and the CX 241 Road Shoe is no exception. Features like Boa closures, full grain leather upper, and carbon sole check off everything we look for when shopping for new kicks.

This shoe is race ready and looks great. The CX/TX Competition last still offers a roomy toe box but has a tighter heel than the Sport last found on some of Lake's other offerings for a snugger, glove-like fit that's perfect for high-cadence spinning and big wattage efforts. A heat moldable carbon heel counter allows for fine-tuning of the fit and the Nufoam lining feels like it's giving your foot a hugging embrace every time you put the shoes on. Down below, the lightweight and stiff Lake Race carbon fiber sole with drillings for a 3-hole road cleat put the power to the pedals.

Like we've seen on Lake's Endurance mountain bike shoes, the CX 241 gets hardier materials for the upper ensuring excellent durability and long life. Full grain leather is supple, easily contouring to your foot's shape while the higher wear areas like the toe and heel receive Helcor Abrasion resistant leather for increased resilience. Dialing in the fit, and easy to adjust on the fly is the almost now ubiquitous dual side mounted Push/Pull IP1 BOA lacing system with releasable lace guides.

Look & Feel Awes

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Read all the Lake sizing info, always thought I was a smaller 10.5, so I reluctantly went with the recommended 43.5. I ended up having to go with the 44 due to the slightest of discomfort only in the right shoe. Got in a 36-mile ride and had the 44s on for over 2 hours. The shoes performed great, but got slightly uncomfortable towards the end. Just new shoe stuff! I went with the reflective gray - can?t wait to see ?em lit up by some headlights.

I've recently purchased a pair of LAKE CX 241 shoes and I'm very happy with them. These shoes have a wider "toe box" than my other cycling shoes Sidi Ergo 5 and Giro and length wise they fit the same way. They worked fine right out of the box and did not need to be broken in, after a 5 hour ride my feet were feeling great. I cannot yet comment on their durability. Craftsmanship could be a little better or maybe I pay too much attention to details. So far they are the best pair of cycling shoes I've tried in regards to comfort. * Update - March 2022 In terms of comfort these are the best shoes I've ever tried on and they keep getting better with every ride and still looking like new after many hours or riding.

Couldn't be happier

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Over COVID, I have been experimenting a bit with shoe fit. Because I am pedaling constantly, I have tried to pay attention to what works and what doesn't. I've tried out multiple shoes, and the CX241 is the best I've tried. I really like the location of the two Boas, with the one closer to the forefoot. The leather feels great, sole is stiff, good quality construction. What is not to love? Sizing of all cycling shoes is a little wonky, so you need to get the right fit.

Great shoe in terms of looks and quality, but the uppers are way too soft. The full grain leather looks great and the configuration of the uppers make for a comfy shoe, but the lack of structure just doesn't hold my foot in place well. I've tired to mold the heel cup but that's not the issue. Its just that it wears too much like a sock.

I chose the Chrome color with the toe protection and am quite happy with the fit and how easy they are to clean. The inner shoe is mesh and the outside is like a lobster shell that tightens around the foot with the Boa system. They are very comfortable with great arch support and power transfer. I had to size up to a 33 as the recommended 32.5 was a tad too small.

Lake is great company that actually cares about a cyclist feet they make the best cycling shoes bar none i love my CX 241's and heat molded the heel cup and they fit great most people dont know that they have odd size feet and lake caters to a variety of foot shapes and the shoe feels like a comfy as a tennis shoe. the fit is great and great power transfer when climbing
