It pays to keep it safe.

For the ultimate protection against bike theft, Kryptonite fashioned the New York STD U-Lock with bracket. This traditional U-lock design has been revamped with a new construction, as well as a double dead-bolt style lock to ensure your bike remains safe. Now you won't turn your back only to have your bike stolen in a New York minute.

The U-lock itself utilizes a 16mm hardened MAX-Performance steel shackle that is able to resist bolt cutters as well as pressure from leverage. In addition, the cross bar is covered with a steel sleeve for a second measure of security. The lock is a double deadbolt system and the cylinder is a high security disc-style with a center key opening, which also helps to inhibit leverage attacks.

The entire lock has been given a protective vinyl coating, and the cylinder features a sliding dust cover. These protect both the lock as well as the paint job on your bike. A TransitFlex Frame system is included, which gives you versatile carrying options. Three stainless steel keys are included, and one includes a high-intensity bulb built in so that you're able to easily locate the keyhole, even in the dark. If you register your key, you'll have access to Kryptonite's Key Safe Program, which allows you to get a new key if you lose yours.

The Kryptonite New York STD U-Lock with Bracket measures about 4 x 8in and weights 4.35 pounds.

New York Kryptonite

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Wanted a lock that I know no one will break and decided to get this one. I have a specialized turbo ebike and don't want to chance anything with getting it stolen. This lock is super beefy and heavy which makes it seem super strong. Haven't locked my bike up with it yet but it fits very wheel with the included bike mount on my top tube.

Beast Lock

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This thing is burly. I feel safe locking up a couple of bikes with it. Its long enough that you can easily lock to bikes to a pole. Its worth the weight for the security that you get.

Holy Beefy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing weighs more than some road bikes we sell.. or at least close to it. But that offers good piece of mind when you leave your bike in a sketchy spot. The construction is really solid and the key mechanism works smoothly and flawlessly.

In Kryptonite I Trust

Secure, easy to use, and backed by a great warranty when used properly. In Kryptonite I Trust.

    Not perfect but close

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This lock is solid. I definitely have confidence riding around town that this bad boy will keep my pretty Trek safe. The only downside I have found is that with my frame, the lock is almost too big to fit, which is the only reason I did not give this 5 stars!

    protect your ride!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this lock to secure my bike that I ride around Salt Lake City, and this thing is beefy. I have no worries about leaving my bike while I am in the climbing gym or out on the town. The bike attachment piece works really well and the lock stays really secure while riding. The lock is pretty heavy, but that's part of the trade off for a lock that will actually protect you bike from theft. If you need a bike lock, then get this one, because no one wants to walk home after getting their bike stolen.

    protect your ride!

    No stolen bikes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Having a bike stolen is the worst feeling EVER! Kryptonite does everything they can to prevent bikes from being stolen.

    No stolen bikes

    Not messing around

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Easy to use, solid lock/key mechanism, and excellent guarantee against theft if you register and properly lock your bike! Also adds to your workout with an additional 4+ pounds to haul around, but well worth the peace of mind.

    Bike Thieves Beware

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After my bike was stolen I invested in something a bit more substantial to lock up my wheels. This is one heavy lock, but worth the weight. Pay attention to detail in the way you lock your bike up for it to be covered by the warranty mentioned below.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I returned this because it ended up being too short for the fence I need to attach my bikes to at night. Otherwsie, this thing feels indestructible! If you could stand the weight to actually carry it on your bike with you it can certainly double as a self defense weapon! Lock ran smooth and it would give you a lot of confidence to leave your goods overnight (which is really what it is for; the only true protection from a determined thief is keep your bike inside)

    The Best

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best U-lock you can get. It's heavy, but worth it, for the security. It's not easy to cut this lock. But, if you register your bike with Kryptonite, they will insure your bike for at least one year, should someone go through the difficult trouble to cut it off.

Woah, I ordered this but just saw your comment on Kryptonite insuring it. That is awesome! I've heard U-locks can be easy to pick. How do you register your bike? Do you have a link or know where to do that? Can you register 2 bikes if 2 people are using the lock?

The warranty is for one year, for one bike. You can pay a small additional fee, for additional years.

    Thanks for you question!
