For XC riders looking to dip their toes into the trail bike realm or for gravity riders seeking an efficiency-focused ride, the Joplin Carbon S Mountain Bike offers common ground. This 120mm travel trail bike provides a supportive feel on the climbs that’s capable on the descent for endless loops on flow trails. The Joplin utilizes 29in wheels front and rear to help us hold momentum over jagged rocks and roots, plus they roll quickly on cross-country rides. Juliana strikes the perfect compromise between straight-lining stability and cornering agility with a 65.5-degree head tube angle (low position) that inspires confidence on fast-flow trails and tight turns. The Joplin might be the Juliana that benefits most from the Glovebox storage system because it lets us take advantage of this bike’s appetite for miles with all our supplies stored neatly in the downtube.

This mid-tier build utilizes Juliana’s Carbon C frame construction which is slightly heavier than its CC counterpart but delivers impressive durability and stiffness compared to aluminum. The 12-speed GX Eagle drivetrain from SRAM delivers an excellent gear range and reliable shifting characteristics for long adventure rides. The Fox 34 Float Performance fork from Fox supplies 130mm of travel up front for a balanced feel that’s efficient on the climbs and supportive on the descents. We’re big fans of the Race Face AR Offset 30 alloy wheels on this build because they provide excellent durability and value. This bike is a great fit as the first carbon build for a newer rider who likes to stick to flatter terrain or as a budget-friendly addition to a rider’s quiver as an efficient trail bike.
