Perfect for High Alpine Adventures
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Ive used these glacier glasses for all of my winter adventures for the past 2 years. They haven't let me down once. They do an amazing job at keeping your eyes safe from the bright light reflecting off the snow. They also do a great job at protecting your eyes from the wind on blizzard days in the backcountry. My only complaint with these are that they fog up pretty easily if it's a hot day and there is no breeze or you or moving slowly. But overall, these are some super sick, stylish glacier glasses that serve their function really well.

These glacier shades have a retro look with new age technology. Leather shields for a classic yet functional design and a quality lens for crystal clear vision on those bright sunny days.

Wanted to love them but too narrow
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have a big head and these are just too narrow to be comfortable. I ended up giving them to my lady and she loves them! She has a much smaller head so the side panels sit appropriately. I do like the behind-the-ear arms though! They definitely work for keeping them in place!

I have used them skiing, hiking, mountaineering, on glaciers, driving, as a sleep mask on planes, and even on hangovers when I have sensitivity to light.

They're the BEST Jerry..
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
"I'm tellin' ya Jerry, These Glacier Glasses are THE BEST!" Sunglasses on the Mountain.. a bit, polarizing of a topic, right? Here are a few scenarios that may sound familiar: 1.) You're either rocking the same pair of goggles every year. (until you can't see through all the lens scratches) 2.) You buy the same model & make of goggle every year. (hey, keep giving backcountry business! no harm no foul!) 3.) You rock sunglasses. You are a trend-setter, ahead of the curve, a modern pioneer of style & steeze. (but you constantly look like you've been watching the notebook after every run because you tear up from the wind cutting through those 'lil eyeballs) SOLUTION - get these sunglasses. These aren't knock-offs, they're the real deal. The epitome of a classic style that is constantly referenced to, but never gotten right by any other company. Read any of these reviews below and you're bound to see the word, "functional". 'nuff said. The Julbo Vermont.

The Definitive Glacier Glasses
I wear these wherever I can. If there were clear lenses, I'd wear 'em in the office.

Cool but a little compact
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I like these shades. I wanted something that would block out the sun during winter snowshoeing or hiking. I really like the product. It is very well crafted. However, they are a little smaller (lenses and frame) then I thought they would be . Also, they tend to fog up on winter days if you don't stay moving to keep the air flowing. Over all though i plan to use them and keep them.

The very fact that they are flat gives a FUNCTION nobody has mentioned. You can put prescription sunglasses OVERTOP these glacier glasses and they (both pair) work perfectly fine together. Glacier glasses that curve around do not allow other glasses -- let alone prescription -- atop the glacier. For driving, glacier isn't enough filtration with car butts & windows beaming sun at you. So presecription SUNglasses ATOP these glacier glasses is the ticket. For style only -- yes they're cool. I've gotten intrigued comments. But please do REALIZE the EASE of doubling-up -- which other glacier glasses would not allow you to do.

Buyer be ware. I returned these because they do not function with the shields removed. The lense are already rather loose with the side shields installed. The lense and shield can be turned rather easily. With the shields removed, the lense rattles in the frame. I may have gotten a defective pair but I think their production tolerances are just too lax.

I love the classic look of these sunglasses! So far I have used these for spring skiing and plan to use them for hiking once the snow melts. I love the side shields, these do a great job of blocking out light. The lenses are dark but not too dark. They work great on a bright sunny day with the sun reflecting off the snow to make it super bright, yet I can wear them on partly cloudy days and still be able to see. The wrap around ear piece works well to hold them in place even with a sweaty head while bouncing around spring soft snow. One thing that surprised me is that these don't have nose pieces like normal glasses but I haven't found that to be a problem at all, the frame is comfortable on your nose.

I love these. From the moment I saw them, I knew I needed them despite the fact that I can wear them in the mountains. Now I've taken them out in spring and snowy conditions and would pick these over my goggles except that they don't do much for warmth on the really snowy days. I wear these all the time, and have found them helpful driving in winter conditions too! Also, I have an abnormally small head, and love that these have rubber casing around the stems that hook around your ear. I often have a hard time finding Sunnies that fit, but these stay on great because of those rubber hooks.

I got my sister and my dad a pair of these, after I broke my dad's pair and my sister need them... oops. Anyway they are so good looking and so like the glasses they made back in the day for touring that I am buying myself some! Really comfortable and good looking!

Classic look, they feel great on the face and have been performing great on our early season ascents in the backcountry. These will be my daily driver for touring the rest of the season.

I love these glasses. Great for touring, climing rocks, climbing ice, pushing snow. Do not use these to drive. Terrible for driving. They fit my large face quite well, ear loops keep the glasses on when looking down that sick couloir you just man handled. Your grandfather would be proud

These sunglasses are rad. Being the old soul that I am, I wanted a classic looking glacier sunny. I have used these a few times, primarily on a trip to Mt. Rainier last June. They worked as described. The plastic protective case is nice and the construction is about what you would expect paying $150. I have a larger head and these fit fine. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up!

From what I hear, the lenses are very dark. Is there any way that this can be avoided? Different lenses?

These sunglasses are made for glacier travel/alpinism and come with a Spectron 4 lens (5% vlt). You can't change the lenses on these but if you like the style check out the Micropore with the Spectron 3 lenses (13% vlt). http://www.backcountry.com/julbo-micropore-sunglasses-spectron-3-lens?rr=t

We really appreciate this feedback, Norm! I'll address this issue with Julbo and see if there's anything that can be done to help tighten the lenses with the shields removed. Your Account Manager, Brittni
