Item # ISS0008

Picking out a new pair of pedals doesn't require choosing definitively between flats and clipless, and the iSSi Flip III Pedals are here to prove it. They feature a two-sided design with four adjustable pins for running flats, and a clipless cleat for when you want a little more security and power. The flat side is relatively simple, but enables you to run quick errands and go on more casual rides with your sneakers or flat shoes, while the adjustable spring-tensioned flip side gives you the security you want when you're charging on the trail. The Flip III features triple-sealed bearings to offer increased durability, and reduce the friction of spinning so you can get more out of every pedal stroke.

  • Flat-to-clipless pedals for versatile riding
  • Four adjustable pins help you lock into place in flats
  • Spring tensioned clipless side features 4-degrees of float
  • Adjustable tension lets you release as easily as you please
  • Ideal for trail days or quick errand rides
  • Triple bearing system reduces friction and boosts durability

Pleasantly surprised!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After years of riding on my old iSSi Flashes, I opted for the Flip III for my gravel/daily/commuter bike. I've tried so many flat/clipless combo pedals and lets be real - they're usually just the worst. I'd rather ride with bananas for pedals than try to fiddle around with cheap and poorly thought through combos. Trying to take off from a stop light and having to flick both pedals back and forth gets real old real quick. But to my surprise, I really liked these! The 4 degree float makes it easy to find the side you want, and after a few miles it ends up being a pretty thoughtless process to find the side you want. In addition to the easy access they actually have removable pins, and it feels like your riding a real flat pedal. I really loved most of the colors they used and the paint has held us surprisingly well. I'm also a huge fan of the contoured spindles.
The only real downside I see is weight - though most people who ride combo pedals couldn't care less about weight, these guys come in at a hefty 493 Grams. However, the build quality and functionality far outweighs the weight in my opinion.

Overall I think these are pretty fantastic pedals and worth every penny!

They Grew On Me!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like the idea of having a pedal that can do it all, but the one draw back is gingerly flipping the pedal over to ride clipless if the flat side is up - which can be technical and sometimes a hassle from a difficult starting position. I realized you can just hop on and pedal for a while, and if either foot is un-clipped, the tension of the spindle allows the pedal to rotate 180 degrees if your foot is not on it. So just start pedaling! Ride the flat side for a sec until you are in a position where you can allow it to rotate, then clip in. Now I really enjoy these and like having the option to ride these like flats or clipless pedals. The quality is there and the tension adjust seems to work great. Overall very pleased with these bad boys!

Great flat / clipless combo!

This is the first pair of clipless pedals I've owned (friend has the s brand one sided clipless), and these feel much better clipping in and spin quite nice. I've probably put 20 rides on these pedals so far and am very happy with my purchase. The paint has chipped a little bit but that just shows character :)

You couldn't clip into these with a barrel full of grease and a sledge hammer. Flat side is fine. Good texture. Clipless side ... good luck. The cleats they sent with pedals had one washer that had to be forced into channel. That should have been the first clue. Then it was IMPOSSIBLE to get these clipped in. Tension up and down made no difference. You could lay your cleat perfectly in the channel and pound it with a sledge hammer and STILL not get clipped into these things. Don't waste your money on this junk.
I didn't list anything under "Familiarity" because there is no category for, "I tried to use it as advertised, but it was so CRAPPY that was not possible."

Hey Chad! Interesting thing is I had a pair of older SPD cleats already mounted on a pair of old Giro shoes that clipped in SOLID to these pedals so I never mounted the ones sent with the pedals, and my current SPD cleats do not clip in at all. (And are shaped more closely to the cleats sent with the pedals) If you would like to try a different pair of cleats, reach out to a Gearhead and we will happily send another pair to try. Thanks!

    Only pedals I need!

I love these for mountain bike riding clipless and then cruising to work on flats. I never have to switch my pedals and the platforms are super bomber! Plus, I got these in a proud purple color that puts some spice to my pedal stroke!
