Flash II Pedal

Built to handle just about anything, the iSSi Flash II Pedal's tough construction is ready for days ripping laps in the mountains, while being comfortable enough for all-day road rides around town. Its jack-of-all-trades, minimalist design starts with accepting SPD-compatible cleats to allow you to use the same shoes for outdoor cycling as you are for your spin class.

Meanwhile, the adjustable spring tension system allows you to start at a lower tension for easy exit and then gradually increase the tension as your skill set increases for more security on more demanding outings. The Flash II's bushing and bearing spindle type offers up an insanely smooth rotation and intuitive feeling interface between pedal and rider. This combination of precision spindle machining and high-quality cartridge bearings ensures years of high performance and minimal maintenance.

  • Triple-bearing clipless pedal ready for rides of all types
  • Adjustable spring tension meets your level of riding
  • SPD-compatible cleats transition from spin class to the road
  • Bushing and bearing spindle has exceptionally smooth rotation

Hot like Lava

Like Shimano pedals but more colorful. What more can you say? Well, I can say a bit more. If you are familiar with Shimano SPD mountain pedals then you will be right at home clipped into these pedals. I would say the initial quality of the pedal is comparable to Shimano XT but at a better price point and more colorful. If you want to add some color to your whip then ISSI gives you plenty of color options. Pros: Can use Shimano cleats. Feels similar to Shimano pedals. Colors are sweet. Good price. Sheds off dirt/mud nicely. Cons: I felt like it was slightly more difficult to find the pedal to clip in than a Shimano XT pedal but still pretty easy.

These ROCK!

I've put it through the wringer

I have used a couple different pairs of ISSI Pedals mostly because my different bikes need different color pedals. I did notice I liked the reliability of the ISSI cleat more than my standard SPD option from Shimano. The pedals themselves stood up really well against all I could throw at them. This pair I use primarily on my steel gravel bike currently, but they lived for some time on the mountain bike and they were TOUGH. Stood up to pedal strike and the occasional beer hand-up from the CX scene. They shed mud just as well as any competitors similar option and really offer some customization opportunities for you and your new bike! Great brand and they offer spindle length options too so its pretty RAD. Buy ISSI - Get Matchy, win win!

Great, with Real Colors

I've used it several times

I really like them. I have used them for MTB, Gravel, and daily Commuting. They function very similar to a Shimano pedal and even take the Shimano SPD cleat, great if have tons of spare SPD's laying around like I do. One advantage I have noticed is less build up on the pedal when it comes to snow and mud. The more open design pretty much empties itself of earthy material and I haven't had to take a lighter to the pedal on really cold days either. An added bonus is the availability of all the different colors.

All around great!

I've put it through the wringer

Great XC style pedal! The bearings are great! Super smooth action and durable/long-lasting. I love the versatility that these pedals offer. They can be a race day pedal or an all-day pedal as well. They are light but pretty comfy! They take the Shimano SPD cleats, so the action of getting in and out will be very familiar if you have been running Shimano pedals/cleats already. Love the color options. I went with the Lichen, which is a nice olive color out of the box. Great pedals!

Feel just like SPD but looks better

I've put it through the wringer

These binding feel just like SPD because they actually are SPD! The patent on the SPD system has expired so Issi is free to use the system without getting sued. They have taken great advantage of this and made a great line of pedals. I have owned both these and the Shimano XT's and I honestly can't tell the difference when I'm riding with them. They have the same tension adjustment so you can customize the holding power to your liking. I personally like to run a low tension and have found them to be very easy to get in and out of. Plus they come in some great colors! The only problem I've had with them is one that I've had with Shimano as well. I have had the screw that holds the spring in place back out partially which allows the spring to push part of the clip out of place and makes it impossible to clip in. This is very difficult to fix but again, I've had this happen with Shimano XT pedals as well.

Color scheme from head to toe.

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The iSSi Flash II pedal is perfect for adding color to your stealthed-out ride, or carrying your color scheme to your feet. The engage with the feel of a normal SPD pedal, and feel pretty natural, plus the purple color is bitchin'.
