C58 Aero Wheelset - Clincher

Whether it's racing or training, we seek out fast, stable, and durable wheelsets to give us the most out of every ride. We also have a soft spot for bicycle components manufactured in the USA which is why we're really excited about the Industry Nine C58 Aero Wheelset. This ultra-quick wheelset is hand built in North Carolina and if you are looking to supercharge your road bike, look no further.

At the heart of this wheelset is the excellent Torch road hubset that is machined in-house at its North Carolina facility. On the surface, the exquisite machining and deep anodization grab your attention but these hubs prove that beauty is more than just skin deep. The Torch three pawl driver is very similar to that in the mountain hubset which can withstand an unbelievable 700 ft/lbs of torque. We like to think that we put out the same power numbers as a chipped diesel engine during our sprints, and even if that isn't the case, it's good to know the hubs can handle it. Hubs also feature Teflon contact seals at the endcaps, protecting hub internals from rain and muck while running drag free so you don't lose any precious watts accumulated over the hard training miles.

Industry Nine sticks to tried-and-true stainless steel spokes for its road wheelsets and this one is built with Sapim's CX-Rays. These spokes are popular on many boutique wheel builds, and for good reason. The forged, bladed spokes have a reputation as some of the strongest, stiffest, lightest, and most aero options for lacing a hub to a rim. These spokes are often used to build up mountain wheelsets as well so we don't question the durability when hammering these wheels over cobbles or pavé. The 20 spoke front wheel is radially laced and the 24 spoke rear wheel gets a 2:1 lacing pattern with eight of those spokes on the non-drive side, and 16 on the drive side. This better balances the spoke tension between the drive and non-drive side for less wind-up under power for quicker accelerations and a more responsive wheelset.

As stated above, Industry Nine is the master of machining and all the alloy bits are turned in-house. They do rely on the carbon gurus at Reynolds to supply a carbon fiber rim worthy of its Torch hub. This particular wheelset uses Reynolds' 58mm Dispersive Effect Termination (DET) rim known for its strength, lightweight, and aerodynamic properties. The rims feature an external width of 26.2mm letting you run wider road tires and helps eliminate the drag-increasing lightbulb effect that comes from running a bigger tire on a narrower rim. With tire sidewalls that are more parallel to the leading edge of the rim, it creates less turbulence and the airflow stays better connected to the rim improving aerodynamics.

The Industry Nine C58 Aero Wheelset is available with a Shimano/SRAM 11-speed compatible freehub, and with black hubs, spokes, and nipples.
