C46 Aero Wheelset - Clincher

Industry Nine's C46 Aero wheelset checks many of the boxes we're looking for in a road racing wheelset. Featuring Reynolds' Aero series 46mm rims with DET technology laced to the excellent Torch hubs, these wheels are perfect for the rouleur looking for one wheelset to get them through a season of racing on varied terrain. The Reynolds Aero rims are on board with the wider is better movement and have an external width of 27mm to better pair with modern, wider road tires. Tipping the scales at 1540 grams they offer an aero boost when the pace picks up but won't hold you back on the bergs.

Unique to Reynolds Aero rims is the sharp trailing edge that helps the air maintain longer attachment for less turbulence and thus, better aerodynamics. You'll enjoy a quicker wheel and one that is more stable in crosswind situations. Such a fast rim deserves to be laced to a quality hub and that's where the Torch series road hubs come in. The front wheel gets 20 radially laced spokes and a 24-hole rear is laced in a 2:1 pattern with 16 spokes on the rear drive side flange and 8 opposing spokes on the non-drive side. Rear wheels have dish caused by offsetting the rim relative to hub's centerline because of the freehub body. By using a 2:1 pattern, it helps even out spoke tension reducing peak stress loads on the spokes and rim and fatigue cycles incurred in a traditional 24 spoke rear wheel. So you can truly enjoy a lower spoke count wheel without fear of any durability issues.

Turning your pedaling power into forwarding propulsion is the Torch road freehub. These hubs use the same drive ring and pawls as the Torch Mountain hubs which can withstand an unheard of 700 ft/lbs of torque. Since quick engagement isn't quite as crucial on the road as it is on the trail, the pawl count is reduced from 6 to 3 helping to lower drag and weight, while still achieving a quick for road 6-degree engagement. Smooth rolling cartridge bearings and a low-friction freehub seal reduce any unnecessary resistance while coasting. Industry Nine manufactures custom Teflon contact seals on the endcaps that completely seal the hubs from mud and water keeping bearings and internals pristine without sapping watts.

Industry Nine backs up this wheelset with a 3-year warranty on hubs, spokes, and build, and a two-year warranty on the rims. Please note that the rims must be used with the supplied Reynolds Cyro-Blue brake pads to maintain the rim's warranty.
