Ripmo AF NX Eagle Coil Exclusive Mountain Bike

Ibis did such a great job designing their Ripmo AF frame that we decided to build out some complete bikes with our components of choice—the Ripmo AF NX Eagle Coil Exclusive Mountain Bike. The Ripmo is a truly capable platform thanks to 147-millimeters of rear travel that’s powered by the renowned DW-Link suspension design. This rear linkage delivers some of the most impressive rear wheel traction across the industry, whether we’re scooting up wet roots or picking apart tech desert lines in Sedona. The Ripmo rolls on 29-inch wheels for their efficient feel on undulating terrain, and for enhanced rollover capabilities on tricky rock rolls. The head tube angle is 64.9-degrees for a balanced feel that’s plenty stable at speed, yet retains some maneuverability for navigating tight terrain and steep switchbacks.

This Ripmo utilizes the aluminum frame construction, which delivers an impressive value and excellent vibration damping characteristics with only a slight weight penalty compared to carbon. With the planted feel of the alloy frame, we wanted to complement the bike with descent-oriented components like the Fox Float 38 Factory fork which delivers 160-millimeters of travel, top-tier performance, and a wide range of adjustments thanks to the Grip2 damper. The DVO Jade X Coil further bolsters the bike’s descending capabilities with unmatched small bump compliance and a consistent feel regardless of elevation and temperature. The 4-piston SRAM Code R brakes deliver confidence-inspiring stopping power that won’t fade over long descents. We’ve also been impressed with the Blackbird Send alloy wheels from Ibis, which provide a trail-damping feel and a durable design. For riders who want the descending characteristics of a big enduro bike with the pedaling ability of an aggressive trail bike, this Ripmo build is the ticket.
