Ripmo AF NX Eagle Air Exclusive Mountain Bike

We like the metal version of the flagship Ibis trail bike so much that we pieced together our own build with the Ripmo AF NX Eagle Air Exclusive Mountain Bike. The Ripmo AF earned its place in the aggressive trail bike category with its 147mm of rear travel that’s powered by a DW-Link. The Rimpo’s rear linkage provides unmatched rear wheel traction for predictable tracking whether we’re clambering up desert tech, maneuvering spicy spines, or flying down chundery trails. This bike’s 64.9-degree head tube angle is slack enough to match modern trends and deliver straight-lining stability, yet retains a nimble character for steep switchbacks and tight spaces. The Ripmo is built on 29in wheels which help us hold momentum over flatter sections of trail, and they roll right over tricky rock rolls and diagonal roots with ease. The aluminum frame provides excellent vibration-camping characteristics and achieves a value-oriented price point at only a slight weight penalty compared to its carbon counterpart.

With the planted feel of the aluminum frame, we decided to build this bike with workhorse drivetrain components to make room for premium suspension and braking components. The Fox Float 36 Factory fork provides 160mm of travel and all of the adjustment points you can imagine with the Grip2 damper. 4-piston SRAM Code R brakes deliver reliable stopping power that inspires confidence on long and steep descents. We’ve been impressed with the Blackbird Send alloy wheels for their trail-damping characteristics and durability over time. This Ripmo build is a great option for a rider who’s looking to step up to a more capable build without breaking the bank, or for someone who’s looking to add a capable trail bike to their quiver.
