Mojo HD4 Carbon NX Eagle Mountain Bike

Ibis took everything they learned from their highly successful Mojo HD3 combined with feedback from their pro riders to create the hard-charging Mojo HD4, a bike designed to perform at the highest level of the Enduro World Series. The HD4 has a longer reach, slacker head tube angle, and a steeper seat tube angle, resulting in a bike that attacks descents with newfound stability and speed, without losing the remarkable pedaling efficiency and climbing prowess of the DW-Link suspension platform. The frame itself is made stiffer due to a new carbon lay-up and new upper and lower links. Ibis also added a more capable piggyback shock that's tuned for more progression to prevent harsh bottom outs, and is better able to handle long, rowdy descents without fading. The revised geometry, stiffer carbon frame, and more capable shock are driven by the needs of the Ibis Enduro Race Team, which piloted the bike to some stellar results in the EWS, walking away as the #1 ranked team in 2017 and solidifying the HD4's presence as one of the top enduro bikes on the market. This particular build, the Mojo HD4 Carbon NX Eagle Complete Mountain Bike, comes with a smart list of parts built to withstand multiple seasons of riding while leaving you enough funds for epic riding trips and maybe even some race entry fees.

Looking at the geometry of the HD4, you'll notice that the reach is substantially longer than it's predecessor the HD3. The longer reach gives Mojo HD4 riders a roomier cockpit so you can run a shorter stem and reap the benefits of a longer wheelbase for extra stability when you're pushing the bike to the limit on wide open descents. The bikes are now truer to size and you will not have to size up as Ibis noticed many riders did on past models. Lengthening the reach was one part of the equation for better enduro handling, and slackening the head tube angle is the other. Ibis experimented and did some real-world testing and found the perfect balance at 64.9-degrees. Ibis feels this angle maximizes stability in off-camber sections, increases maximum lean angle and allow rider's to carry greater speed through the chunder. We couldn't agree more. This bike loves to go fast and instills complete confidence when things get sketchy.

The Mojo HD4 retains the praised kinematics of the DW-Link platform. Very few suspension designs pedal this efficiently, attributable to the ideal anti-squat characteristics inherent to DW-Link. Throughout its travel, the feel is linear and very active when you need it to smooth rough stretches of trail, with enough ramp-up near the end of its travel to preserve that bottomless feel on bigger hits. Ibis increases the stiffness of the upper and lower links by 30 and 40%, respectively, significantly reducing rear end flex when pushing the bike hard on chunky terrain or when laying down a hard sprint at the end of a stage. Travel bumps up from 150 to 153mm, driven by Fox's excellent Float DPX2 rear shock. Modern enduro stages are essentially extended downhill runs, and the DPX2 offers smooth damping with a progressive end-stroke to prevent it from bottoming out on big hits and endless rock gardens. The addition of the reservoir allows for more adjustments and oil flow so the shock doesn't fade when ridden aggressively for longer periods of time.

Ibis continues its expert carbon frame construction with the Mojo HD4. The one-piece carbon lay-up results in a lightweight and strong frame with phenomenal stiffness, contributing to a responsive ride with noticeably more stiffness than the HD3. All sizes are designed to allow longer dropper posts than before with small frames accepting 150-millimeter droppers and the medium through extra-large frames working with 170-millimeter droppers. Internal cable and dropper routing keeps the bike looking sharp, and the frame has clearance for up to 2.8in wide tires giving you a huge range of available tread options.

On this build, the NX Eagle drivetrain shifts accurately across the wide range 11 to 50-tooth cassette, so you'll have plenty of gears for steep climbs and blazing descents. Ibis specs their house-brand 938 alloy wheels with a 34mm internal width, offering excellent support for the 2.6-inch Maxxis DHF Wide Trail Tires that deliver gobs of traction and smooth out trail chatter due to the ability to run lower tire pressures. Matching the excellent rear suspension is Fox's Float 36 fork with its stout chassis and intuitive adjustments that let you dial in the ride for your individual weight and riding style.
