Water for days.

When you're setting up your base camp halfway up a mountain, water supply is critical. Not just having a viable source nearby, but having a receptacle to keep it in is key, and the Hydrapak Expedition 8L Water Bottle is up for the task. This 8-liter reservoir is made from ultra-durably TPU coated nylon, yes, nylon, meaning its completely collapsible and weighs a fraction of other beefy water bottles. It has a large carry strap, and wide-mouth opening for easy filling and carrying back to the camp site, plus you can hang it from a tree when full for easier pouring into your own personal water bottle with its plug-and-play cap. The Expedition 8L is built to be durable, with double-baffle design that gives it rigid structure when full, so you can carry on your mission into the great beyond with total hydration.

Great Product

I've had my pack for a few years and have used it on countless adventures. I keep it packed away, cleaned after every use, and pull it out when getting ready for the adventure. It doesn't always gets packed nicely but never had had any leaks. The plug in piece stopped holding a couple days ago and I came on to order a new cap. I bought it because I wanted to use it on camping and backpacking trips where I didn't have to lug around a heavy bottle along with the water. I am overall very satisfied with their product.

Expedition 8L.

I love this product. It is very high quality. There is only one issue so far. The cap does not have a silicon ring gasket like most high quality water vessels. I take water in a pressurized cabin of an aircraft. It tends to leak a very small amount under pressure. If you screw it down extra tight if minimizes the leak, but it’s not perfect. I recommend the manufacturer ad a gasket and update it’s cap. This would be fine not under pressure.

Camp a lot? You need this!

Having an 8L bag that feels like a water bottle is amazing. We camp in a lot of places water is not available and this has been a great addition, and packs down small when empty. The spigot attachment makes filling anything super easy and stored on the bag! Hang upside down for easy dispensing. What the description doesn’t say is that a 63mm pump filter is comparable with the top without an adapter needed!!!

Make it Block Ice!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have used this on about 4 river trips of 3-8 days in length plus numerous car camping trips. I typically fill it up about 3/4, remove the air and put it in my freezer and freeze it solid. I then use it in my cooler!! It stays frozen all week with temps up to the mid-80s!! Plus as it melts it is another source of drinking water for the trip and it's cold water, especially nice after a ride, run or just hot day on the river! I do this with the HydraPak 2L and 3L Seeker as well. I end up buy a ton less ice for my cooler and I don't have that gross lake of water in the bottom of cooler either. It is a win on so many levels.

Camping Essential

I use this for camping and it's the perfect size for a weekend trip for cooking and refilling my water bottles for hiking and mountain biking. The dispensing tap makes it super easy and it gets smaller as you use water so it's easier to stow.

It would be a five star of it didn't leak

I was so excited to receive this and it works well except for the random drop it leaks every 30 seconds or so when it's laying on its side, from the cap. If I set it standing up it's fine. Just wish it worked perfectly.

Use it with the shower ;)

Great Tool but was expecting a bit more water pressure while using the "shower". Otherwise super handy during the weekend hill workouts to cool down in-between the laps

Great container if you need to carry more than 4L!

I've used the Expedition 8L for a couple overnight trips now and it's been a solid performer so far! Having the graduation marks on the side is a nice feature, it gave me a good idea of how much water I was consuming and how much I had remaining. The container has lash points which made it easy to strap it to the outside of my pack so no chance of water leaks in my pack! Speaking of which, I had no issues with leaks. I mainly filled it to 5L due to short trips. You can bleed out the air and pull the container tight with the blue strap making it easier to carry the lower volumes with less sloshing. Initially, I was undecided about which container to buy so I called customer service. They took the time to discuss the different options to help me make a decision which was very helpful! The only thing that I could recommend to HydraPak is to make a 6L version of this!

Really Nice design - first cap leaked but new one is good!

Bottle leaks from the cap. It's just a small drip, but it makes whatever it's sitting on wet. I contacted the company and they were great and sent me another unit. Replacement unit leaks from the cap unless it's juust right... I had no issues with water taste, but I washed it out with citrus water before I even used it. Water tasted great, as if it was straight out of my filter system. I did not have any taste issues other reviewers had. I made some 'O' rings for the cap. The plastic molding has an indent for the cap to nest into when it is tightened and an o-ring fits nicely into place. This seems to get rid of my leaky cap issue. Great customer service on the replacement. I wish the cap was designed to be a little more forgiving.
