Is it possible yo use mineral oil in them?
Can these Hope brakes be bled with Shimano, or Shimano compatible bleed kits? If not, which kit?
Stop looking (no pun intended)
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Let's take a guess, you've ridden on almost all the different brands of brakes out there and if you are here reading this review you have a feeling that there is something better. Well you have found it. Think of the Hope Tech 3 brake as the 3 little bears story and that this brake is just right.
I've ridden almost all of them out there as well and decided why not let's give these a try. Well I've had them on my bike for some time now and made multiple trips to Moab and the Saint George area while riding normal trails, slick rock, and even some super steep Hike a Bike trails just to come back down at blazing speed. It never really occurred to me until after several months had passed that I came to the realization that I haven't been thinking about my brakes at all. Odd right, I've been riding some of the gnarliest terrain and not once did I notice the lever changing position mid way down on the descent, or the outside temperature fluctuation changing the bite point.
Nothing but solid stopping power and confidence. I will not lie and I will tell you that you can find a more powerful brake without question, but nothing beats the confidence of flying into a turn, drop or a near vertical trail and without hesitation simply knowing unequivocally that your lever and your brake will be there 100% to save you.
Burly and reliable.
No brake pump or build up after a long down hill section. They are super reliable. The lever pull is completely modifiable and you can dial it just how you like. I love the drilled out holes on the lever - they make riding without gloves even better.
