Tread lightly.

Stay light on your feet and shatter your old PR with a little help from the Hoka One One Men's Tracer Trainer Running Shoe. This lightweight and moderately cushioned shoe strikes a healthy balance between cushioning and responsiveness, so you can actually feel the ground beneath your feet, without feeling every rock and pebble in the process. For cushioning, the Tracer utilizes Hoka One One's Pro2Lite +10 midsole with about 22mm of padding in the heel and 18mm in the forefoot. The ultralight upper is composed of a synthetic mesh to keep a steady supply of cool air passing through the shoe while TPU overlays support the foot. The sole is durable, but light thanks to a combination of strategically placed rubber for enhanced durability and a lightweight material throughout the rest of the sole to give the shoe a remarkably light feel.

  • Lightweight and moderately cushioned trainer
  • No-sew construction reduces weight and eliminates hot spots
  • Breathable upper for a cool and comfortable feel
  • Early Stage Meta-Rocker promotes smooth toe-to-heel transfer
  • Moderate cushioning is responsive and protective
  • Strategic rubber in the sole for reduced weight and durability

How to Measure:
First, measure your foot in millimeters. Then find the corresponding size on the chart. If your size in millimeters matches exactly on the grid, order one size above
Example: If your foot is 262mm, the grid shows it matches up to a US Men's size 8.5 so you should get a US Men's size 9.

Not for me, but maybe for you?

I've been through an insane amount of running shoes, and these aren't nearly my favorite. I had high hopes with this lower profile Hoka, thinking it would be a comfy road shoe for my quicker paced runs. It's light and fast I give it that, but geez the Tracer are not comfortable to wear at all. After my first few runs I was already disappointed but really wanted to give them a shot, so I put about 60 miles in them. Even after my 9-10th run the cushioning didn't soften up at all. They are also too narrow, even for my narrow foot structure.

With that being said, these could still be a shoe for you. If you want a light, flexible, hard cushioned shoe.

Strange fit compared to other Hoka's

I really wanted to like these shoes, but Hoka's design simply gave me nothing but painful blisters on my outer toes. These shoes are essentially cone-shaped around the front of the foot and very narrow at your arch, thereby creating a terrible shoe shape for distance running. I've used multiple shoe brands before (Saucony, New Balance, Newton, + other Hoka's) and have never experienced anything like the bad design of the Tracer. I switched to the Clifton 3 and have no problems... that model makes for a much better fit!

For how much of a cushion these shoes give you they are surprisingly very light feeling. I have run on hokas for a few years now and will continue doing so. Great balance of speed and comfort
