Spend more time on two wheels.
Finding a bike that's right for commuting requires some careful consideration. You don't want to risk damaging your pristine road bike while navigating traffic, but you also don't want to be putting your faith in a patched-together old frame to get you through busy roads in one piece. GT's Transeo 1.0 is one of the company's more wallet-friendly commuting options, with an effective mix of features like disc brakes and front suspension that you can depend on to make your next commute or trip to the store enjoyable.
GT builds the Transeo 1.0 with a hardworking 6061 aluminum frame, which offers an ideal blend of lightness and strength to get you across town quickly. The bike's steep head tube angle allows you to easily keep an eye on what's going on around you as you ride through traffic, and GT's signature Triple Triangle design uses shorter, reinforced seatstays in the rear triangle to add stiffness to the frame and disperse road vibrations to cut down on fatigue. You'll appreciate the SR Suntour 75mm-travel fork on the days your ride takes you through bumpy construction zones and uneven roads as it absorbs bumps for a smoother ride.
A dependable 9-speed Shimano drivetrain with a Shimano Alivio standard crank will keep shifting consistent as you head across town, with a wide range of gear ratios that adapt to changing terrain. Thoughtful finishing touches like hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors and Schwalbe Road Cruiser tires with puncture protection and reflective sidewalls ensure the Transeo 1.0 will function the way you need it to in less-than-ideal riding conditions.

- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Have not ridden the bike much. But, Competitve Cyclist gave me a great price on bik that no longer is spec' d out as good as it was in 2016. Great air shock and XT rear derailleur. Also, the crankset is better on the 16 than the 17. . Can't find a competing bike with the air shock and definitely not one at the price!
Great Commuter Bike!

I grabbed this bike recently for fitness and commuting purposes, and I'm LOVING IT! It's light, rides smooth, shifts smooth, and brakes smooth. The front suspension lock is awesome when you're powering up a hill, and the suspension itself is great as well. I'm very happy with this bike!
