Women’s bibs present design challenges in a few different ways, but the one that gets the most press is the "nature break" feature. Each company does it a little differently, but Gore Bike Wear’s solution is pretty simple. There’s a double zipper that quickly disconnects the mesh of the bib from the main body of the shorts. No hooks, no under-jersey fussing, just zip and be done with it.

Beyond that, the Xenon 2.0 is every bit the short you’ve come to expect from Gore — high-tech, comfortable, and long-lasting. At the core of the short is the Xenon Sonic Lady chamois, a low-profile, yet very supportive chamois that remains comfortable even as more and more miles tick by.

  • Double zipper for easy nature breaks
  • Xenon Sonic Lady chamois
  • Mesh back for breathability
  • Flatlock seams reduce chafing
  • Reflective elements

Great bib

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

This bib is very comfortable. Fits true to size but it is spandex, so if you are on the cusp of being between sizes then I'd go up one size. The legs are are little tight and I don't consider myself to have big legs, but I don't notice it at all when/after riding. The zipper system is awesome - it makes going to the bathroom so much easier. I definitely recommend this product and will probably be buying an extra set!

These bibs are wonderful

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I am 5'5 and 135 lbs and chose a medium. The fit and look are fantastic. The chamois is more than adequate. I wore them on a century ride and they kept me very comfortable. I washed them in cold water on the gentle cycle and threw them on the shower rod to dry. They came out great! I highly recommend them!

Great Bib shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I wore these on a century that I did a few weeks ago. Most comfortable shorts I've used. They fit like a second skin and I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking a highly technical and well fitting shorts.

Comfortable & Flattering

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

These were the first bib shorts I bought once I started riding bigger distances and they were an excellent decision. The chamois is thick without getting in the way. I bought the all-black version and I like that the fabric is thick enough to be durable and not revealing. The shorts (inseam) are on the long side, which I like because they end below the thickest part of my quad muscles - no sausage rolling effects here! I adore the wide cuffs at the bottom and the reflective detailing add some nice flair. The shoulder straps, although they aren't adjustable, aren't too loose or too tight. Most importantly, the bio break zippers are AWESOME. Great design, easy to use, no need to take off any other absolutely critical feature for long rides!

Gore products tend to be designed for a close fit, so I highly recommend taking the time to take your measurements and use the size chart. I bought the XL and they fit exactly how bike shorts should - snug but comfortable.

Stitching failed on first ride

After riding with these bibs for the first time, my wife noticed the stitching near the zipper coming apart at mile 50. She loves how the bibs fit, feel, and work but is dissapointed by this as she loves them otherwise. This is her first try wearing bibs after much convincing by her husband so hopefully it will not be her last.

Stitching failed on first ride

Truly a first!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My wife has two favorites now! She always was a die hard fan for Giordana FRC Bib shorts as they are very seriously one of if not the best all out race short for women if you are very athletic as they run very tight, but really are amazing. She is an XS-S depending on the bib, in Giordana FRC and this Gore Bike Wear Xenon Lady bib also an XS. The fits are incredibly similar, but she now caters to her Gore Xenon's for all training rides, due to the chamois (which is denser and far thicker as well as more comfortable for long rides), equal fit or should I say cut, but most importantly and what really sets this bib apart from all others( the zippy doo system that allows women to take often needed nature brakes very quickly and without the need to disrobe your top or any other clothing whatsoever)!! The best part of this prior system is that it unzips, but not completely hence no heavy readjusting as the tops(bib straps and upper waist stay put, then you simply Zip back up and off you go! This is a seriously one of a kind product worth every penny, not to mention breathes very well, it is lightly compressive, and very durable which is pretty known to be common place among Gore Bike Wear Products! Buy as you will not regret!!

Love these! Comfy and look good!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have the black and white bibs, and I don't have any issues with transparency. The white is not really anywhere that I am concerned about even if they were thinner. They fit great. I have an XL, and I think it's pretty true to size. Feels very secure on, and has a bonus in that it holds me in in places I appreciate. For example, the front area goes up a little higher and with the hook thing, there is really only a relatively small area exposed in front in case of tummy issues.

The zipper thing about not having to take the bibs all the way down on bathroom breaks is not something I have used. It is pretty cool though. There are two zippers on the back at your waist/hips, and they unzip easily, thus freeing the bottom portion you would want out of the way. You do not notice the zippers at all otherwise. And they do not suddenly "let loose," leaving you hanging out.

The cushion is generous without being a diaper. These are my favorite bibs, although I have only two pair. My other pair is Specialized (runs bigger - I use an L), and they don't have all the detail that this pair does.

This is a follow up comment on my previous comment - the little loop thing that holds the front hook gave way - first the stitching came loose and it was hanging by a thread, then the little loop thing broke. Despite this, I still love these bibs and they are WAY more comfortable for long rides than my Specialized pair. I will restitch the loop, as long as the hook itself doesn't break!

The Black One is Better

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Good, except that the white parts are pretty transparent although you get the benefits of the ventilation. The flat lock stitching is more robust on the black model. I purchased both and the black one is virtually damage proof! This one is more delicate.

Both fit well and look great though. The seat insert is excellent.

I can't quite figure out the "bio" portion...

I can't quite figure out the "bio" portion of the bibs from the description printed. Can someone provide a detailed description of how this system works. Is there a zipper that goes all the way around? How hard is it to reattach the shorts to the bibs? I am hesitant about its ease of use. Thinking it might still be faster to strip off the jersey? Also can anyone comment on the mile range and wickability of the chamois? Thanks!

Great Question

Unfortunately I haven't demoed these bibs myself ( I'm a guy) but many of my customers have so I can give you their take.

The Bio system was designed by a female employee at Gore Bike Wear who was an ex pro road racer in Europe. The system was engineered with ease of use in mind. The zipper goes all the way around the waist but keeps the bib in one piece so it is very easy and fast to zipper back up and get back on the bike. Definitely faster and easier than taking the jersey on and off - so I've heard from my customers !

The insert on the shorts is specifically designed with a high moisture transfer fabric to ensure you stay dry and comfortable on long rides. I will post a close up image shortly.

Sorry for the delayed response please post again if you have anymore questions.

Hi there - please see my review for a little different explanation of the zipper feature. There are actually TWO zippers - one on each side. :-)

all about comfort, quality and function

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I love bib shorts. I wear Pearl Izumi bib shorts in sz m. I wanted to give the Gore shorts a try because of the unique bio break system. I had trouble with the Gore sizing, After 3 tries I found the sz l to work best. The zipper system works well but the straps aren't as comfortable as the Pearls. I did not like the white on the bottom of the leg openings. It put me in mind of a Penguin. The bibs gave me a funny shape....penguin like? When paying over $100 bucks for shorts I want them to fit well and if at all possible look good on me. I am short, busty, over 60 with a body going south but happy to still be riding.

I've the Xenon 'shorts', and love them, and the 'racy accent stripes'! Am considering these bibs, too. I'm closing in on your 'specs', too (busty, etc.) you say the straps aren't so comfortable, did they dig-into your shoulders? How tall are you, so I can compare to figure which, if at all, size I would need. (I'm 5'6", heavier than I want to be (working on it!), and usually wear a XXL, to sometimes a XL in Gore...

Will check back. You might like Giordana better? Will check back later.
