Make short work of long rides.

Gore Bike Wear has won a special place in our hearts because of their impressive engineering attention to even the most minute of details in nearly every garment they produce. Take the Xenon 2.0 Shorts, for example. If you prefer the convenience of a short, but demand the comfort and support of a dedicated bib, you'll appreciate that every aspect of this top-performing short has been re-evaluated to ensure your complete comfort on every ride you take it on.

Gore started with a high-gauge Lycra to maximize muscle support, before dividing the short into panels to create a sublime ergonomic fit. They even shifted all of the short's flatlock seams away from potential irritation or chafe points, so you'll never have to disrupt your rhythm while readjusting your shorts. The short's front panels are constructed with a nylon that is less elastic, so the portion of the short that holds the front of the Xenon Lady insert retains its support profile better. Gore opted not to use a silicone bead in its leg endings, but rather a wide, compressive band of nylon and Lycra to keep the hems confidently in place. And lastly, Gore constructed the inside saddle contact panels of the short from a more abrasion-resistant weave of nylon, ensuring the Xenon 2.0 is the short you reach for season after season.

Gore has fitted the Xenon 2.0 short with their excellent Xenon Lady insert, best taken along on long, hard rides. This three-dimensional chamois houses both foam and gel inserts to create multiple densities across its surface, ensuring you get consistent pressure distribution and relief where you need it most. The smooth and seamless, antimicrobial surface deftly wicks away moisture without irritating your skin, even after extended hours in the saddle.

The Gore Bike Wear Women's Xenon 2.0 Shorts are available in either Black, or White with Black accent. Both colors feature reflective logo hits and inserts on the back legs to help keep you visible if you're riding home after dusk. They are available in X-Small to XX-Large and feature an inseam measuring 23cm (9in).

  • Abrasion-resistant panels at inside leg and seat areas ensure your shorts stay pristine for season after season
  • Reflective logo hits on sides and back help keep you visible to motorists when riding after dusk

  • Ergonomic fit
  • Shifted seams for less irritation
  • Abrasion-resistant panels inside leg and saddle area
  • Xenon Lady insert
  • Reflective logo hits on side and back

I ordered this item after reading some great reviews. Initially when I received it, I tried them on and felt like it fitted perfectly. But on my first ride, I began to feel too tight in my tights during motion. Chaimos seems to be good quality but it didn't feel comfortable on me at all. Overall seems to be good quality, just not a right fit for me.

Great fit and quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

The chamois is stellar and excellent for multi hour rides. I like the longer length and compression. It's winter and have only worn them for 1/5-2h but they are incredibly comfortable and did I mention the great chamois! I'm 5.7.5", 135 lb and got a small on a recommendation from a friend who owns many pairs of these shorts. It's on the very edge of tightness that I will tolerate, but there is no uncomfortable gut and thigh squeeze so I suspect the small will allow them age well with dying a saggy, stretched out death.

Pretty good

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I ordered these shorts for a long bikepacking tour. They were great at first, then they started to chafe me more than my other shorts and so I sent them home. Before using them every other day, I liked them for long rides. The padding footprint is nice and big if you have a wider saddle, and the first padding under the stillness is super supportive. I am 5'2"/ 123 lbs and wore the XS- I also have the XS in the Oxygen and like them even better. I typically wear a small in Pearl Izumi, so these may run bit small, but I like em tight.

"Silicone" Leg-Gripper Hem

Contrary to the description, the leg hems do indeed have a silicone beading, as you can see in the photo (the lettering and designs are the silicone 'beading'). It is quite comfortable, and no problem at all pulling them down for pit-stops! They stay exactly in place with no binding.

"Silicone" Leg-Gripper Hem

Product detail correction:

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The description states the chamois is removable...not so, it is sewed on, like most other tights/shorts.

Also, the legs do have silicone 'grippers', just configured a little differently (in the form of writing and graphics), same results: keep leg hems in place.

*Sorry I didn't notice this mis-information earlier for you, ladies.

Xenon Jacket, jersey,shorts & socks.

I ride solo most times, so I haven't been able to get a "action shot" yet...whatever, this will give you a idea of this how great the reflective elements look; and a great-looking 'kit' that will look even better on more athletic type bods!

(there are even more reflective elements on the back-side of the jacket, jersey, and shorts).

Great Visibility +

Here, the camera's flash shows the great reflective hits on this kit. There

s the same reflective details on the back of the Jacket, Jersey, and Shorts (the reflective design wraps around slightly to the back of the shorts). Gore really thought out cyclist' visibility with the Xenon line!

Great Performance, Period!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Just came back from a long, HOT ride (88f with very high humidity), and these were just perfect.

Material breathed excellently; waist and leg band hems stayed in place (no binding or shifting at all). On some shorts, even the Giordanas, the waist band often times slips down and I find I'm always adjusting and pulling them up (a smaller size won't work, not yet anyway).

No scratchy seams; which is one of the things about my Assos' shorts that bothers me.

And, best of all, the chamois is the best, if not a tad wide in the back. Have to say, it is more comfortable than my Giordana lasers. (I still have to change the saddle on my men's Trek Fuel EX 8; so any chamois that allows me to ride long distances without too much pain is a definite plus!). Great breathability in that dept., too.

For size: I usually size up (in Gore, a XXL), but I think I might have been able go with a XL in these (curvy, but working on it!) and will order a XL next time. So I would say they run *true-to-size.

I got these in the black/white version, and also the matching Xenon singlet jersey and Xenon jacket (and Xenon socks, from 'somewhere else)...very nice, and quite sharp, but...not for the muddy rides of course, but so 'cool' on a hot, dry summer day/cool evenings. Will definitely be getting the black shorts for the dirtier rides.

This is Gore's top tier lineup, and I defiantly recommend it (still, they need to refine the contour of their chamois a little better, but they are comfortable!).

Stamp on back of garment reads:

Will post any quality issues if they arise.

Hi Debbie, Do you use the same size in these as Assos? I would like to purchase a pair but being in NZ want to get the size correct

thanks for your time

Hi Fay, wish I was there! What interesting rides you must enjoy!

I am not petite, so in the Assos, I wear a 'XL', and it fits just fine. Now with Gore, I find I usually have to size up to a 'XXL'...I need room for bust/shoulders, and on the bottom-end, need to work on the waist-line.

I will be ordering another of these (and another singlet), but will be trying a 'XL' this time. These seem true-to-size, unlike many of their other offerings. If you're of a slim/athletic build, I'd recommend ordering your regular Assos size.

Of course, if you possible could, order one in your Assos size, and maybe one in a size-up; send back the one that doesn't work...

You might want to consider the jacket, too, while it's on sale, to complete your kit. Gore has women's Xenon socks, too!

I see they have re-introduced more of the Assos Lady Ellisse jersey in ALL the great graphic colors! I've the Adua & and the blue-fronted shorts...coolness!

Let us know how it all works out for you, and God Bless!

As good, or even better, than ASSOS

Great compression, very comfortable chamois. I have worn Assos for years and these are even better feeling, especially on long rides (I am a size M)

BETTER than Assos!...I've got to try these!

You know, I think you're right! I love them, and will be getting another pair (in solid blk.). I think they may be even more comfortable than the Giordana's! So long as the quality holds up, I've found a "new love"!

Too lLarge chamois for small sizes

The chamois was really big in these -- felt oversized. I wear an XS in all my bike shorts and with the chamois being very wide in this pair - made them feel baggie and large in the seat - had to send them back. For reference- Assos, Giordana Carbon, various Sugoi and Per Uz. over the years are others that I wear/have worn. May be great in larger sizes - the chamois would form to the larger seart area, and the style/look was nice - waist sat nice an low enough, flat, etc ... but not good fit in the smaller size.

I just got these, and love them; but I have to agree that the back part of the chamois is wide, maybe wider than it needs to be. And I am not small, unfortunately! But I love these otherwise. Also have Assos, Giordana, and L.G. (but L.G. not my favs). I have some Gore tights, and it's pretty much the same song: they need to work on the 'shape/fit' of their chamois. Hope they do it soon, for this coming winter and next summer season!
