Ride hard, stay comfortable.

The Xenon Race bib is made with lightweight, synthetic fabrics that are designed to pull moisture away from the skin and disperse it across the fabric’s surface to enhance evaporation and keep you dry. Gore also built the Xenon to provide maximum support while you’re in the riding position, and has oriented the seams away from potential irritation points for added comfort. Gore uses mesh for the upper portion for added breathability and provides reflective accents throughout to keep you visible in low-light conditions.

The Xenon Race includes Gore’s Xenon Man chamois. The Xenon Man uses multiple densities of foam to guarantee support without cutting off circulation. The chamois features a blend of synthetic materials for optimal moisture management. Also, the chamois’ stretchy quality allows it to better accommodate you while you’re working away in the saddle, which eliminates chafing and ensures that you stay comfortable on long rides.

Poor elastic

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Xl

The elastic around the leg is not tight enough. I am 6'3" 230 and they are too loose. The entire garment also does not have "tight stretch" feel that you get with other brands. Will not buy again.

Xenon Race Bib

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

Great shorts. I'm 5'9" 152lbs , I ordered the medium, fits nice ans snug. This is my second pair of Gore bibs.
Fast shipping. If you are from Canada beware of the customs duty you have to pay.

good fit, bad seams

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: M

The seams at the belly started coming apart after only a few rides. The binding tape stitching was coming undone in 2 places, and eventually I suspect they would unravel and fail. The pad is pretty comfortable and the legs stay put well, so after several 3+ hour rides I decided I like them enough to do some darning. Perhaps the stitch failing would have never progressed and been a non-issue. Mine have red stitching and the newer(?) "2.0" one for sale has black stitching, so perhaps this issue has been corrected - though another reviewer seems to have had the same problem.

The pad also felt scratchy on my bum at first, but after 3 or 4 washings (and wearings), it doesn't anymore. It's some weird material that "smoothed" out, though the first ride wasn't terribly comfortable. I really like my Gore bibs, but they need better QC on their stitching.

Comfy, but monster tags.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I"m old. I'm also fat. I still love riding, but I overheat quickly, so wearing kit that breathes and wicks sweat away quickly is of key importance to me. Compression is also key in a good pair of shorts.

So far, I've only used these items on the trainer, as it's a bit too cold outside for shorts, but I'm digging it so far. Only quibble is the rather large tags along one of the seams; tags aren't tearaway, so if they bug you, you have to very carefully cut the tags or threads holding the tags without cutting the actual seam threads at the same time.

Very nice bibs for an exhibitionist.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

5-9, 200 Lbs. Large fits nicely. Nice bibs with nice fabric, HOWEVER the back of these bibs is a see through mesh which exposes about 1/3 of your butt, so if you want to show yourself off then go for it. For me, I sent them back don't care to be an exhibitionist on a bike.

Great Pair of Bib Shorts

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

So far I like what I see. I have ridden about 200 miles on them, a combination of indoor trainer, outdoor winter riding with tights. The most important part of the bib short, the chamois is a multilayered pad that works well. The size is perfect and will work for my longer races and training rides of 5 hours plus. One should remember that riding shorts in general is a very subjective topic, and there is no substitute for trying them first.

Works for me....

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

As for me its not easy buying bibs there's so many to choose from. Sportful has been an excellent bib fo me. I lost 20lb due to illness. My bibs fit loose now. So i needed to search for another bib, I knew about Gore a few years back. Competitive cyclist sale of $109 for the Gore helped. I bought the XL, the fit was very good at 6ft, 185lb 35in waist, also bib left a little room for a few pounds of growth. Bib was snug, chamois didn't more and felt great (very comfortable) on rides. This was my main concern, To me Gore did a excellent job on there Xenon. Chamois is the center and the built go outward. The bib works great with my Specialized Chicane Pro saddle. Bibs are personal like saddles, Xenon works for me.

Uncomfortable chamois

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While I can see no reason for it on examination, these shorts have never been comfortable in the bottom for me. I have been forced to relegate them to short rides in spite of the contrary advertising. Lot of money for very average materials and construction.

Love Gore, but not this time!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Love Gore products, and in this bib short it is fantastic all but one possible draw back which caused me to have to return them. The materials are great, sizing and fit are great, chamois is as well but the leg hem opening is severely oversized! I can't where most shorts as I have a 36 waist, am 6'4" tall but have very large quads compared to most at my size, hence only a few short even fit me due to this, that being said this is the only bib short I have ever tried that was perfect though all major points and yet was way too large at the hem opening of the leg!!! So unless you have Olympic proportional size quads, I would reconsider!

not for me

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love Gore products. Finish and quality are top notch and so far I have had good luck with fit. This is one item that I have to return though.

Firstly, I found the chamois to be irritating. Literally; as in scratchy. Things got a little better if I was very careful when I put those on.

Second, the straps are too short. Before someone suggests I got the wrong size, I am 187cm and got the M. I went with waist size (mine is 31in). The result is that I have to keep pulling on the back of the shorts to keep them nicely in place.

Maybe that those sorts are not for my anatomical make-up. Best fitting shorts for me are the Louis Garneau (Evo Mondo or Lazer, size M).

Epic Bibs

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are great shorts. I upgraded from the regular xenon bib and the performance is noticeable. The fit and comfort are unparalleled. After hours in the saddle you don't get chaffed and uncomfortable like other bibs. The ventilation and materials are unparalleled. The fit is snug due to the slight compression element. I find this to be a comfortable as well as performance enhancing feature. The longer you ride the better they perform. They are worth every penny. Oh and I use them on the Mtb as well.
