Description

Block the wind.

The Gore Bike Wear Men's Power WindStopper Softshell Short-Sleeve Jersey pairs clean styling with element-fighting fabrics to keep you dry through Springtime drizzles and warm on brisk, windy days. Made from Windstopper fabric, this jersey fights off the elements while providing excellent breathability to prevent clammy microclimates and keep you comfortable in less-than-ideal weather.

Gore incorporates three rear pockets to carry essentials, with the outer pockets angled at the top for easy access while in the saddle. Small details, such as gripper elastic at the hem and minimized seams prevent bunching and chafing, while reflective elements increase visibility to motorist in low-light and dreary conditions.

2nd favorite all weather shortsleeve

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

Fit is solid, but on the small side for Gore. I often wear Small, but found Medium is just right. This is a great Fall-Winter (in CA)-Spring jersey. The insulation and windstopping combination makes it work well in many conditions. I like it in the low 50s under high effort - breathes well, keeps warm due to wind blocking at high speed. I find thermal (fleeced) uppers too warm, as they retain moisture and heat under harder effort, yet not great when you have a long descent.

Perfect tweener

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great jersey for when its uncomfortably mild. Windstopper is great with some armwarmers (GORE windstopper ones work great). The jersey is a little long as are the sleeves. 5'11 170lbs size Large. Nice pieces of reflective bits.

Initial Impressions

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Wore for first time yesterday. Perfect for the early morning chill. Wore with a thin base layer. Temperature started around 50 and warmed up to mid 60s. Had lots of steep climbs on the ride. I never got too hot or too cold, even with all out exertion on the climbs and then fast descent. Great breathability. Size fits just a tad narrow in the chest. I am in between a medium and large club cut jersey. I ordered a large in this, and it fit snugly, but not too tight. My only issue (hence the four vs. five stars) is with the internal seams. When I tried it on without a base layer, the seams scratched. For me, it would be uncomfortable on a ride without anything under it. With the base layer, however, the seams were fine. I recommend, especially at this price.

Nice transition piece

First I see this as more of a light jacket than a heavy jersey, due to both function and its loose fit. If I don't need a base layer I don't need this. To put it another way, my first layer of cool weather defense is base layer under my jersey, with this Gore replacing the jersey when it gets a bit cooler. Works well with arm warmers if it's going to warm up during the ride. The big Windstopper logo on the back is usually highlighted on my return by the sweat that didn't goretex its way through it. Nice hi-viz green sleeves during the day and reflective elements at night. It will be a go-to piece for cooler days (upper 40's to mid 50's) that don't require a full jacket

Excellent Jersey

Perfect for windy, cool days where you don't want to bundle up but do not want to freeze. Far less drag than using a windvest.

Great for Shoulder Seasons

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

This is a great in-between seasons piece. On colder mornings in the fall, it can be paired with arm warmers and is perfect. Hard to pass up at the sale price. Haven't worn in inclement weather yet, but, would imagine it holds up pretty well based upon the material. I usually end up in a XXL for most brands, but, this runs a bit larger. Fit is snug, but, not painted on. As a tall rider, i appreciate the extended tail on the jacket. Provides great rear cover.

It's Warm

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: XL

It feels like the sizing runs a little large, not by a crazy amount but the jersey is roomy. It will be nice when layerd with a thicker base layer. I run hot as it is, so this jersey will carry me through late fall / early winter when paired with Gore arm warmers. Overall happy with the purchase.

The Item Every Rider Needs in His Kit

Windstopper jerseys are the most under utilized garments in biking. They are awesome for cold days paired with arm warmers or rides where you face large temperature ranges. This is a 100% windproof jersey that also has incredible water resistance. This jersey paired with arm warmers can be worn into the 30's and opened up without the arm warmers up to the high 60's. It is an incredibly versatile piece and one that should be used by more riders. Feel free to call or email me with any questions.

so, no base layer required? sounds like a good jersey even on non-windy days in late fall...

Is the sizing chart correct?
I just can't believe a size XXL would be the right size, and even tight, for a size 44.

so, no base layer required? comfortable against bare skin?
