Cycling season is year-round.

For you, a dip in temperature and snow in the air certainly don't signify the end of the cycling season. Whether your strategy for riding year-round includes wrapping your featherweight road rims in 28mm winter boots, or swapping your road bike out entirely for your mud-ready 'cross steed come September, the Gore Bike Wear Men's Oxygen GWS Jacket should be what you're wearing over your jersey. Slim fitting and delivering the reliability of Gore's proven Windstopper fabrics, the Oxygen will keep you pushing the pace through the colder months.

To start, Gore equips the jacket to withstand a potent late fall cocktail of wind, rain, sleet, and snow showers by constructing the shell with its venerable Windstopper fabric. Water-resistant and completely windproof, the softshell fabric will move with you from your hoods to your drops and back again without feeling restrictive. Inside, a plush fleece lining acts as lightweight insulation, sitting cleanly over a baselayer or thermal jersey and establishing a lofted layer of warmth around your body, while continuing to wick moisture away from your skin as you heat up.

For the days that warm up more than expected, Gore adds two zippered vents for airflow and builds the jacket with a full-length zipper to allow for more temperature adjustment as needed. An elastic hem and longer back hem of the jacket ensure it will stay in place while you're on the bike, while the three standard pockets and single zippered pocket provide the same amount of space as your favorite jersey for stowing bonk-preventing ride fuel and other must-haves.

  • Cold-weather cycling jacket keeps you off the trainer
  • Windproof and water-resistant shell blocks tough weather
  • Lightweight fleece lining adds breathable insulation
  • Slim fit allows for layering over a jersey or baselayer
  • Full-length zipper and torso vents allow for ventilation

Nicely made, odd fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XXL

Seems like a very nicely made jacket: double-taped seams, nice materials, good use of ventilation zippers, but for me, the fit was a bit off in that the front was a bit high, while the back was very long. Jacket felt a bit short and cramped in the shoulders and upper arms, while rather loose in the sides and back.

I tried it on sitting both off and on the bike, and it just didn't feel quite "right" being baggy and short in all the wrong places. Would probably be about right for mild days if it actually fit me, but it's going back.

Great jacket!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

This is a great jacket. Especially if your winter doesn't get colder than 20F. It the temp continues to drop, you will need to add some additional warmth.

Good jacket for the money.

Then windproofness on this jacket is great. Definitely runs warmer the my Castelli Gabba 2. I am 5'11" and 172lbs. and found the size large to be a little baggy in the chest and waist. I think the length of the torso and arms would be too short if I had a medium. I found this jacket to be ideal for 35-45 degree (Fahrenheit) days. My biggest complaint is the vent zippers. They are just too difficult to open and close while riding. This is due to their location and the gauge of zipper used.

Great jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: X large

Fits great still allowing for xtra base layers, have worn in low forties and was comfortable, feels great in the drops with no restriction. Have yet to wear in rain so can't comment on water resistance. I'm not a skinny rider but not unfit and love the way this fits, not to tight but tight enough with no flap.

Not a real winter jacket

I have an older Gore winter jacket, which has been through the wringer. The old jacket has windstopper on the entire shell. This jacket has windstopper on most parts, however it does not have it on the entire sleeve. As such, the jacket is good for 40 degree temps, but would not recommend for anything below, unless you have good warm base layers and jersey. Otherwise the fit is nice.

i agree about the sleeves, i have found i have to wear extra biking sleeves underneath to make it much under 40 degrees, nice jacket other than that it does repel rain very well
