Attention Getters

I bought these thinking they would shield the wind more than they do........but they don't. I actually think my neoprene toe covers provide more warmth than these do. I have used them in 40-50 degrees and I would say I wouldn't use them in under 50 degree weather unless it's less than an hour ride. I have the neon ones and they do provide great visibility from a long distance. I also have the full cover neoprene Giro that are absolutely fantastic.

    Do the job

    • Fit: True to size

Light wind protection, easy to put on and take off.
However, please note that the production description on this site is misleading - there is no zipper at the back.

    Do the job

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Not a lot to say really, but these have worked as intended. The fit is snug at first, but after taking them off once or twice they are reasonably easy to get on and off but still fit nice and tight as intended.

I wear these not so much for the aero benefits, but for a little added warmth when its in the 40s.

My only gripe is that they don't work well with my mountain bike shoes and my preferred cleat position. Granted, I run my cleats nearly as far back as my shoe allows, but the material from these covers on the sole interfere with the cleat. That said, they work fine with my road cleats and that was my intended use so I'm happy.

For reference, I wear a size 43 (Diadora Vortex Pro) and the size L fits well.

Great shoe covers for the price

Price, and no zippers were the selling features for me. They fit great, and install the same way as Velotoze, as long as you know this, they are easy to install and remove. Google the Velotoze install video for reference and it will all click. High quality, and form fitting. Would buy them again.

Easy to put on if you take your time

Despite other folk's experience, I did not have any trouble putting these on, and I like the "no zipper" design. You just have to plan the process out, and basically roll it on from the toe to the heel, getting each section (toe, cleat, up to the heel, etc) tight before moving on to getting it over the heel which is the hardest, but easily done. My only complaint is I wish it did a little better job of smoothing out the lumps and bumps of a shoe, making it more aero. That's what I bought it for, and it does an OK, but not great, job of it. Great value though.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Giro's website *currently* states that these each of these covers feature a, "reflective, offset, locking, zipper." And the CC description above says these have zippers. Where are they?

Instead, on the back, there is a ~2" stretch zone made of neoprene and lycra. It stretches a little, but not much; especially at the top of the ankle (the entry point)!

There are zero instructions from Giro on the tag other than "superstretch pull on design."

Umm, not so much. After calling a CC rep, who explained how the Giro rep said to get these on (toes first and work them on), I finally squeezed into them. It was NOT easy and they almost ripped. And this was with a size XL (!) for my size 45.0 road shoes (Shimano R320s).

Bottom line, these aero covers in fluo yellow look GREAT... but I can't see how they are going to last 2 or 3 uses without stretching-out or tearing.

They would be perfect if they had an offset, locking, rear zipper. Like the one they are -supposed- to have.

    Tight fit

Sure it is great to loose the zipper but the effort to get these on over shoes is almost to the point of "screw it". I wanted them as an easy pull over to keep the kicks clean in rain or wet road riding. Once you get them on all is well but be prepared to allot some time to make it happen.
