Description

All-terrain awesome.

The Giro Men's Terraduro HV Shoes bring all the comfort and durability of the standard Terraduro to those of us with wide feet who're looking for a shoe to tackle the trail in style. With a stiff, responsive outsole and walkable Vibram rubber grip, these shoes are the ideal choice for any terrain.

The Terraduro features a robust nylon shank that transfers power to the pedals as an XC shoe should, with a Vibram rubber outsole boasting engineered flex in the forefoot to confidence-inspiring grip when side-stepping rocks and logs or during a 'cross run-up. Perforations in the upper and a breathable microfiber interior let air flow through to keep things cool, while Aegis treatment in the footbed fends off stink-producing bacteria. Giro also adds reinforcement at the toes to protect from the impacts and abrasions of trail life.

The Terraduro HV's closure system consists of a middle hook-and-loop strap that snakes through a mid-foot D-ring for excellent adjustability in tandem with a ratcheting buckle on the top strap. The middle strap essentially turns the entire panel of inner fabric into an extension of itself, eliminating pressure on the metatarsal bones by pulling equally from a large swath of fabric on the inside of the foot. The bottom strap adjusts the fit around the toes independently of the other straps for a comfortable ride every time you clip in.

  • Beloved XC shoe adapted to fit higher volume feet
  • Synthetic leather uppers are pliable and soft
  • Ratcheting and hook-and-loop straps ensure a precise fit
  • Vibram rubber sole keeps you steady on uneven ground
  • Aegis-treated footbed wards off offensive odor

Prefect fit - great shoe

I would consider myself a standard width size 11. I bought the 45.5 wide version of this shoe... perfect fit. Firm sole for the bike & easy to walk in if you're taking a stroll.

    Whole Size Too Small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

So, fits small is an understatement. What you need to state is, order an entire size larger than normal. I ordered a half size larger based that statement, their sizing chart is way off. So now I have to pay $6.99 wait another two to three days to get the correct size. It does look like a well made shoe but no real clue yet since I cannot wear them.

Perfect for those all day rides

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My boyfriend has these and has taken them on multiple 8+ hour days without any issues. He says they feel really supportive and great for walking around off of the bike. The only issue is they run slightly small for size and could use a little more traction for those muddy hike-n-bike situations.

    Great so far

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was looking for a pair of heavier duty mtb shoes for rougher trails that might involve some hiking. These fit the bill. Rugged construction and a beefy sole with good grip. I have a hard time finding mtb shoes that fit me due to my oddly shaped feet, but these HV fit pretty well. I only have a few rides on them, but they are breaking in well. I also tried the Code HV (and a bunch of other brands) and the Code are more sculpted in the toe box and don't fit me as well. The shoe upper seems pretty durable; time will tell. Not sure if the perforations in the upper will be enough ventilation in the Utah summer. So far, so good. Normally wear an 11 shoe and the 45 fits great.

    Like the no-slip sole...

After much contemplation because the shoe I wanted (the Giro Code VR70 HV) was sold out in my size, I ordered this pair. I was surprised when they got here and, despite being the HC shoe, they were a little tight in the toe box for me. I wore them around on the carpet for a while and could tell they'd be a great all-purpose shoe, but if I rode hard and my feet got hot and swelled, they'd be uncomfortable. I returned them and ordered the partial carbon soled Code in the next .5 size up (unfortunately had to get them somewhere else). But if you want a good all-purpose shoe, these are great. Just order a tad bigger, if you're like me and have a very high instep, despite the description that HV lets you order true to size. As a guide... I wear a true 9 in just about everything... shoes, boots, tennis shoes. I wore 43.5 Sidi road shoes for years (no socks). A VERY long time ago, I had a pair of Nike Pooba MTB shoes in 9 that were fine. The first pair of Giro shoes (this pair) that I ordered were 42.5. Again, they were a tad too tight. I may have gotten away with them, but think 43, or maybe even 43.5 with heavier socks, would fit me better.

Great built shoe. Great built shoe

I wear a size 11 in every other mountain bike shoe I own. Been doing this for 26yrs. I have a little wider feet and like to wear wool socks wherever possible. Bought these in a 45.5 which is a 11.5 into their chart and they were way too short. It was like maybe they were labeled wrong. Retuned them for refund. And now I'm here today tomorder another pair. Gonna give it another try. Ordering 46.5 which is a 12.5.
Compatible Cycle is a great company and make return and exchanges as easy as they should be. Great company!

    Great shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these looking for a shoe that would be good for touring and had better walking characteristics that my top line carbon soled mtb shoes. While I bought these for touring, they are a surprisingly capable shoe for general riding and MTB usage. I’m kinda seeing these as my primary go-to mtb shoe.

I walked about a mile in these nonstop to see how they would do. They were fine. These could easily be the single pair of shoes I’d take when touring (we tour high speed and lightweight). That said, I’ve ridden these on my road bike after changing pedals and hammering on them to see how the shanks and sole hold up for road riding - they were just fine! So again, a surprisingly capable shoe if not just a touch heavy given it’s (necessary) vibram sole.

The sole is a grippy vibram sole with plenty of room for an SPD style cleat. I use Speedplay Syzr pedals which need every last millimeter of width on most shoes. They worked fine on these shoes. The sole is built in such a way to help guide the cleat engagement and it works great. As well, the tread around the cleat is slightly deeper than with standard mtb shoes so you don’t get the crispy sound when you walk on pavement and there is grit on it - which also chews up your cleats. That’s a pet peeve of mine and I’m glad Giro fixed the problem.

I wear a 10.5 to maybe an 11 in some shoes. Width runs a hair wider than D (call it D plus). I bought these in a 44.5 and they fit perfectly. I’m pretty sure from what I’ve read that the standard non HV shoe runs to a C width or for very low volume somewhat wider feet.

The insoles that Giro supplies are just a hair better thant the garbage that most shoe suppliers provide. Plan on getting better insoles (as you should as practically a rule with any cycling shoe). That done, I’m very happy with these shoes. Giro did a nice job on these and kind of nailed the hike-a-bike mtb and touring market with these kicks. A very solid and capable shoe that you can actually walk in.

I didn’t want to like these since I’m pretty much a Sidi fan-boy. But the shoe is a compelling rendering and Giro did a great job. If you read the reviews web wide you find nothing but glowing reviews. I find them to be accurate and I find this shoe to be impressive.

    Fits small

I wear size 12 shoes and order 46.5, which shows as being a size 12.5 on their sizing chart. I had to send them back as they were at least a size too small. Should have ordered the 47.5 or 48.

So... do you have any feedback on the use of these shoes? Did you get the correct size? Ordering shoes online will usually entail returns eventually. I'd hate to see a rating of these shoes solely (pun intended) on sizing alone.
