For roads less traveled.

We love a good pair of super nerdy, minimalist road shoes, but are willing to concede that there are more appropriate choices when things lean towards the dusty and adventury. That said, we aren't willing to sacrifice on style or functionality, which puts the Giro Men's Rumble VR Cycling Shoes right at the top of our adventure cycling footwear wish list. Pairing classic lace-up style that's perfectly at home at your favorite local breakfast café with a grippy sole and two-bolt cleat compatibility, the Rumble VRs are up for everything from last-minute gravel excursions to days long epics to leisurely mid-week rides through the city.

Giro fashions the Rumble VR's uppers from a mix of synthetic fabrics and mesh, blended to provide a balance of protection and breathability that'll have your feet turning in comfort through dusty side roads, rocky access points, and cloud-clearing sunbursts. The lace-up closure system isn't just there for style, but also offers precise adjustability for an impeccably customized fit that minimizes pressure points.

Underfoot, a molded shank gives the sole needed stiffness to efficiently transfer power into speed while leaving enough flex for comfortable walkability during hike-a-bike and coffee shop situations. To cap things off, a Vibram Rubber Outsole provides sure-footed grip while an EVA midsole offers comfortable support.

Wonderful shoe

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I had a trip to cycle across Europe planned and since I was carrying all of my stuff on my bike, I needed a shoe that could be for cycling and for walking around. My MTB shoes were too stiff and not great to walk in for very long, and road shoes weren’t an option. I tried a pair of adidas sambas that were also cycling shoes but they had a hot spot I couldn’t eliminate or ignore. So I went out on a limb and decided to buy these. I can’t say enough good things about these shoes. I rode miles in these and walked miles in these and they did everything I needed them to do and remained comfortable the whole time. I highly recommend these shoes for any use whether you’re cycle touring, MTB’ing or spinning. Hell, I’m gonna try racing in them next month because why not? Get ‘em. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Excellent shoes

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I loved these shoes literally to death. They were really great for commuting to work for a solid year, every day. Very comfortable to walk around and I didn’t get called out in the office for wearing cycling shoes. One plus is that the cleats are nicely recessed so they don’t really click on the ground all the time. They also were great for road and gravel duty and were very comfortable over long rides up to 120 miles. I fit well in a 45 when I’m normally a 44. This is what they look like after close to 3000 miles about half of which was off road and they went downhill fast in the last 100 mtb miles. Things to note: they’re not super stiff, which means they’re great for walking. Also I wouldn’t take them on proper MTB rides, I basically destroyed them when I used them as a stand when I was it between mtb shoes. They also failed in the same place on both shoes (top of the mesh). Overall I would buy another pair (and probably will!) because they’re great value and work so well for commuting.

Great shoe for my single speed

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I was looking for a spd shoe that passed for and functioned as a standard sneaker. These nail it. The cleats do make contact with the ground so there is a little noise walking but overall very nice. Feel like quality build and good in the saddle.
