Get out and adventure.

Adventure cycling presents its own host of requirements for a shoe that leave traditional road and mountain options sorely lacking in functionality. Giro's Women's Petra VR Shoes let you get the walkability and stiff power transfer you need in a package that'll blend in easily at the pre-ride brunch gathering. Classic lace-up styling offers massive adjustability, and a grippy sole with two-bolt cleat compatibility means these shoes are up for everything from around-town noodles to epic gravel adventuring in the desert wilderness.

Giro fashions the Petra VR's uppers from a mix of synthetic fabrics and mesh, blended to provide a balance of protection and breathability that'll have your feet turning in comfort through dusty side roads, rocky access points, and cloud-clearing sunbursts. The lace-up closure system isn't just there for style, but also offers precise adjustability for an impeccably customized fit that minimizes pressure points.

Underfoot, a molded shank gives the sole needed stiffness to efficiently transfer power into speed while leaving enough flex for comfortable walkability during hike-a-bike and coffee shop situations. To cap things off, a Vibram Rubber Outsole provides sure-footed grip while an EVA midsole offers comfortable support.

  • An adventure-worthy cycling shoe
  • Molded shank provides stiffness without sacrificing walkability
  • Grippy Vibram rubber outsole
  • Lace closure for a customized fit
  • Tongue loop holds laces in place
  • Compatible with two-bolt cleats

First clipless shoe

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This was my first clipless (option) shoe and I had to do a ton of research to figure out exactly what I needed to do (ie instal the SPD cleats that came with my new pedals). I decided to include the spacer given the other reviewer here and absolutely no trouble on my first clipless ride. I did a 35 miler and found these to be comfortable right out of the box, easy to clip and unclip. I’m not used to hard soles so my toes went slightly tingly at times if I forgot to move them while on a long flat road but did not last. Overall: comfortable, sturdy, easy to clip in and out of, and well made! I am a 6.5 so sized up and got the equivalent of a 7 and they fit perfectly.

Cute but useless to me

These were on backorder when i ordered them. Waited almost four weeks for delivery. They seemed perfect. Cleats for my clipless system, but nice Vibram soles for those times when I might have to walk. When they arrived, I attached my SP-51 cleats in the lower pair of holes, because I like the cleat below the ball of my foot, and found that the plate they attached to slid up and down inside the shoe. I have only had one other pair of clipless shoes so i wasn't sure if this was an error or by design. When I got on the bike, I had a hard time unclipping my left foot. I would turn my foot and the cleat would stay straight in the pedal. This felt very crashy. I had to wrench my foot around, left and right, to get it out. I tried moving the cleats toward the toe. This gave me more leg to apply torque with, but the cleat still slid around on my left shoe and clipping out was still difficult. Trying get my left foot out once, i put my heel into the spokes. The right shoe brushed up against the chain during an extraction attempt. I suppose that's better than the police taking them off my corpse feet after I crash. I thought maybe it was my new pedals, and swapped back to my old shoes. Nope. It's the new shoes. If you like your cleats near the toes, you might like these. Just crank down on them really hard and maybe they won't move. They were great when I was off the bike walking through a store with hardwood floors. I didn't have to worry about the cleats scuffing up the wood. I really liked the look of these shoes and I wish they had worked out for me. These are going back

You needed to use the spacers included with the cleats.

Is there free return or exchange or is there a shipping charge? I'm asking about bike shoes Giro Petra VR. Also, they are meant for road bike use, yes?
