Item # GIR00DI

With you for every epic ride.

Trail riding demands a helmet that you can forget about on the climb, but that won't bail on you if you overshoot a switchback and end up flying over your bars. Based on the design of the pricier Montaro MIPS helmet, the Giro Chronicle MIPS Helmet comes with no-frills sensibility for riders who'd rather focus on getting out on singletrack and staying safe than on having the fanciest equipment. Upgrade now to get lightweight, streamlined protection further enhanced by the addition of MIPS.

Like any self-respecting MTB lid, the Chronicle MIPS comes with extended coverage along the back of the head, as well as a protective P.O.V. Plus visor to shield you from sharp branches, rocks, and the sun. The In-Mold polycarbonate shell pairs with EPS foam to provide more traditional protection against hard hits, while MIPS sits subtly inside the helmet in the form of a thin inner basket. This barely-there liner shifts slightly upon impact to absorb brain-damaging rotational energy generated by certain crashes, helping keep your grey matter safe without weighing you down on a midsummer climb. Plush Coolmax padding keeps the helmet resting softly against your noggin, and 14 airy Wind Tunnel vents prevent things from getting swampy inside the helmet on a warm weekend afternoon.

  • Shield your noggin without cramping your style on-trail
  • Visor and extended coverage add trail-specific protection
  • Lightweight design with 14 vents won't weight you down
  • MIPS technology minimizes effects of certain damaging crashes
  • One-handed adjustment keeps helmet comfortable and secure
  • Plush interior Coolmax padding wicks as it cushions

Good a couple issues

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: med

Good value for the money. A little bulky and fit is more oval than typical Giro road helmets, but works well and like the MIPS

Great Value and MIPS!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Like a few others have said, this is a killer value helmet. Tough to get MIPS technology at this price point and Giro delivers. Size wise, there is some adjust-ability with it so that helps a ton. I'm a 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 hat and the Medium was spot on for me. Large would be too roomy in my opinion.

Very happy, great value

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great value. Lightweight, fits well. This is my first helmet with MIPS and so far I love it. Beyond the added safety feature it seems to provide additional ventilation, which keeps me cool even in hot temps.

Best Bang for the Buck

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This is hands down the best MTB helmet you can buy for $100. Better ventilated than it looks, comfy and equipped with MIPS.
If Giro typically does not fit your head shape, try the Bell Stoker, pretty much the same helmet with a slightly different look and shape.

Great Fit and Protection

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Hard to find better value in a helmet. I've been looking for a helmet that isn't too bulky but also has good coverage on the back of my head. The other helmets with MIPS that I was looking at were around $200, decided to give this one a shot and I'm so happy that I did. Fits my head perfectly, has a good look, minimal bulkiness and solid color options. Stoked.

Great Fit and Protection

Very Happy

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am very surprised by the feel and fit of this helmet based off the price. It fits my head perfectly, and I am very happy with it. I expect to upgrade in a season or two, but this helmet will work great in the meantime.

Great helmet, but bulky

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have always been impressed with Giro's helmets (have owned several ski and bike helmets), so I decided to purchase Giro Chronicle with MIPS. In contrast to other reviews, the helmet fits great on my head, and the adjustment band ensures it fits snug. No pressure points. My only reason for not giving this helmet 5 stars, is that it is a bit bulky. I did not notice it while riding, but side by side with other helmets, and this does look oversized. Would highly recommend, but would suggest you try it on in person prior to purchasing.

Perfect fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Awesome MIPS helmet at reasonable price. Much more comfortable compare to my old Bell Super.

Pressure Points

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I was right in the border of Medium and Large so I got both to try them both. I was really impressed by the way they looked, but then I tried them on, The large one felt like I had a bucket on my head. It fit my head, but seemed oversized. The adjustment band also rested on my ears and I wasn't a huge fan of that. The medium seemed to fit well, but the foam pushed on my temples making a very uncomfortable fit.

I ended up returning both because I didn't like the fit. Maybe I just have an odd shaped head.
