Super Lightweight Knitted Short Sleeve Baselayer

Short sleeves on a base layer give you a bit more warmth on those transitional days, days when it is pretty cold at the start, and there is a promise of greater warmth. Never hurts to have a little extra protection. Besides, some like to attach their arm warmer grippers to the sleeves for a little more security there, too. The Giordana Super Light Short Sleeve Base Layer offers you all this, plus their tubular-knit, almost seamless build, and the pleasures of Dryarn, a new microfiber, also found in their Over/Under base layer.

Dryarn is a new kind of polypropylene fiber. One that moves moisture quickly and efficiently away from the skin, and is also feathery light, has excellent stretch, and anti-bacterial to boot. It will help create a comfortable microclimate between your skin and your jersey thanks to its properties, plus the zones of differing thicknesses (or mesh) around the top. Thicker over your chest, but thinner on your stomach; thicker on the front of sleeves, thinner around back.

The Giordana Super Light Weight Short Sleeve Base Layer comes in White. There's light elastic at the arms and waist. Sizes run from Small to X-Large.

  • A super lightweight base layer of Italian made materials
  • Polypropylene fabric moves moisture away to the outside layer
  • Perspiration instantly evaporates so your skin remains dry and cool
  • The tubular knit creates varied densities to conform to your body
  • Designed to keep the material close to the skin to regulate body temperature
  • Light elastic at the cuffs and waist keeps the garment in place

Awesome Base Layer

I've used it several times
True to size

Purchased a couple of these to use for cycling, but will be using for skiing as well because it wicks moisture better than any of my merino or polypro gear. Remarkably comfortable, fits like a glove, and really does improve riding comfort.

Article received not what's picture

I have owned the base layer pictured in the product description for 4 summer seasons and very happy with the garment. It worked well and I loved the compression fit. So with summer season ahead, I placed an order. The garment arrived, but the item # on the package does not match the item number description on the website. I received a crew neck that lacks the compression fit. I clicked on my order and was directed to this page, hence my assertion is I ordered correctly. I will return this garment and inquiry with Competitive Cyclist about this mismatch. I have high praise for CC, so I am confident it will be sorted out.

excellent compression-style baselayer

i don't cycle in cold weather; mild all year around; what's more, except on days above 30 C, i always wear a base layer (such as this one) even in summer. I like the compression feel of baselayers like this, and by wearing a baselayer, i don't have to worry about uncomfortable bib straps or itchy fabric seams on my jersey. given those caveats, this is probably the best baselayer i have ever used. I have used higher-end castelli and assos, and though my comparison is purely subjective, i prefer this one. two things to keep in mind with this shirt: first it is slightly longer than others; this is a little bothersome because i don't like tucking my baselayer into my already tight bib legs. (i am not tall relative to the size i wear--179 cm and Large size, so perhaps for others this is not an issue).; second, i wear size XL in cycling (outer) jersey, in just about every brand--whether aero-fit, race-fit, or "adventure-fit"; however, in a baselayer L is my preference.

Perfect all round

One of the best base layers you can get. I use this in spring summer and fall. Wicks the moisture away and keeps you comfy. I never used to wear a base layer until i put this on. Improves your riding comfort. A must

Caving, not Biking

I do not cycle; I bought this as a baselayer for caving. Months later, I highly recommend buying this item. I purchased it for sport trips during which I'd be constantly moving. I had no intention of using this for survey (mapping) trips, but I ended up doing so. This shirt keeps you warm for extended periods of time in 52-54 degrees(F), even if you're just sitting around (for hours). I was extremely surprised - very pleasantly surprised - to learn this. Regardless of your sport, I personally believe this is a good investment as far as a baselayer goes.

Hi Amy, your review is so very helpful! How well does this wash? Do you wash it any specific way? I.e. type of detergent, hand wash or machine... Does it snag (which I suppose for function and actually using it is would get worn and possibly snags :), fall apart with washing? Thank you so kindly for your time!

Hey Aubrey! I don't wash it in a particular way, I just chuck it in the washing machine with the rest of my gear all willy-nilly like. I always put the dial on "extra heavy" for my cave stuff (even if I pre-wash it so I don't break the machine). After two years of use, it has yet to start pilling after washing. It does snag from time to time during use since it's a mesh fabric but it has yet to rip or tear. It seems to be very durable.

Hi Amy! Just the feedback and info I was looking for, thanks for taking the time to give all the helpful details!

Tighty Whitey

Great baselayer. Definitely cut with cycling in mind. I have plenty of polypro ski gear that stinks after as many wears as this piece has gone through, but somehow this one doesn't? Stretch and face keep the fabric with the skin, I've never had any discomfort caused by the baselayer. Bonus: a good baselayer can make a cheap jersey wearable.
