A versatile length

On temperate days when tights are overkill, but standard-fare bib shorts won't suffice, bib knickers provide the most effective protection from crisp air. So, when you find yourself in this predicament, slip into a pair of Giordana's Silverline Bib Knickers and get on the road. Designed for longer rides, the Silverline bib knickers will keep the fall air from getting to your joints and muscles as the miles stack up.

For a natural, anatomic fit, the tights use multiple materials and have been constructed on a curve. On the front of the tights, where cold air is most prominent, a winter-weight microfiber, Super Roubaix, has been used. This fabric not only retains warmth, but it also has a stretchy composition that permits a comfortable range of motion. Thermo Dream has been placed on the back of the legs, rear seat panel, and sides for better ventilation and temperature regulation. Both fabrics have a brushed inner-pile that's gentle on the skin and is impeccably warm. The bib straps are made from two types of mesh, Naxos Mesh and Power Net Mesh. The Naxos Mesh sits comfortably on your shoulders and is highly breathable. In areas where skin-chilling sweat has a tendency to build up, Power Net Mesh is utilized for its strong breathability and strong moisture transferring properties.

With a variable density ranging from 4 to 13mm, the Nimbo OmniForm chamois has the most substantial padding volume in the Giordana line. The top-layer of the chamois uses a polyester microfiber, with a subtle, square-shape texture to aid in ventilation. The seamless, multi-layer foam construction puts memory foam and 10mm open cell padding at the area that needs the most support -- under your sit bones. For the perineal region, the chamois' density has been thinned out. And to minimize abrasion and discomfort, all of the layers are brought together in a low-heat process that eliminates hard edges.

Elastic gripper at the hem and cuffs provide an adjustable fit and keep the knickers in place. Reflective accents have also been added throughout the knickers for extra visibility in low-light conditions.

The Giordana Silverline Bib Knickers are available in the color Black/reflective and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.

Pretty good for the money -

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Size Bought: Large

I have the FRC wind bibs and knickers, and the FRC line is most excellent.

But, the Silverline is not bad. They are certainly better than most. The chamois is not as good as what is in the FRC line, but it is better than most. I wouldn[t wear these in colder temps, but they are fine in the high 40's (no RAIN) and up.

They are true to size, and they are nowhere near as tight as Castelli, but you might need to size up. I can wear both the Mediums (a stretch), but the LArges are pretty roomy and comfortable.

I have long legs, and the grippers fall at just the right length unlike many knickers. A good buy, but if you want to spend more, buy the FRC.

Great buy

I do a lot of cycling in cooler weather and found these bib knickers to be the perfect mix between comfort and warmth in cooler temps. The super roubaix does its job to keep your front warm, while the back breathes. I'd use these in temps from 40s-60s.

    The right bibs

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Giordana bibs are very good - comfortable fit, warm enough for 40 weather. Maybe a bit pricey, but I don't have another pair for comparison.
