SilverLine Short

Giordana definitely has some garments in its lineup that punch well above their weight class. We're not sure if it's the brand's wealth of knowledge and materials that trickle down or the fact that it owns its own factory in Italy that allows them to hit such attractive price point. Regardless, the Women's SilverLine Short is one of our favorites, and if you are looking for a pair of shorts for the Tuesday night hammerfest, a solo soul ride, or maybe even your first pair of cycling shorts, you can't do much better than these.

The shorts are constructed from 2 panels of stretchy and breathable fabric that provides a contoured fit supporting cycling muscle groups while you pedal, reducing fatigue, and moves hot perspiration away from your skin. The fit is classic Giordana and you'll be in total comfort as the cut is non-restrictive while still offering compression and support for the long miles ahead. Leg cuffs are constructed from 4.5cm non-restrictive, soft, woven elastic that comfortably keeps the hems in place. Topping these shorts off is the Cirro S-W chamois providing a plush, cushioned barrier between you and the saddle with its breathable foam and soothing aloe vera impregnation. Reflective rear striping along each leg allows for brilliant visibility in low-light conditions.

  • Elastic-free yoga-inspired waistband offers support
  • Elastic leg cuffs keep hems in place
  • Reflect accents offer visibility in low light
  • Women's Cirro S-W chamois allows comfortable pedaling for many miles

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.

Too big

Runs large

Tried these on, and the leg bands were too big. They fit my legs, but weren't small enough to stretch and stay in place. The chamois was also too big, as I sat down, I noticed my sit bones didn't come in contact with the cushy part of the chamois. I used to be a small, and thought I should move up to a medium, but its just too big.

Too long for my short legs

I returned this product before using it

I really like the material but they are too long for my thighs. They hit above my knee and the inseam is only 8.3 inches. Not crazy about the thigh grippers, they were too loose. The chamois was a little bulky when I tried them on but you really need to go on a few rides first. If they fit right, this short is meant for long rides. My quest continues for the right short for my build.

That’s huge

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These fit me well in the waist and legs with the exception of the leg band. It was really tight, far tighter than the rest of the leg, and cut into my leg way too much. My biggest problem was the chamois, though. It’s huge. It’s bulky. There was so much bulk out to the sides that within 10 miles my legs and feet were numb and my undercarriage was sore and very unhappy. You just don’t want your undercarriage to be more unhappy than necessary on a bike and I couldn’t wait to get home and take them off. By comparison, my Castelli Velocissima shorts have never made me cut a 4 hour bike ride off after 10 miles and constantly shift on the saddle in desperation to get feeling back in my legs.

I liked the fit of these shorts, but the chamois was too bulky for me. That's a personal preference, and other than that, they seemed like really nice shorts.

What is the inseam?

Hi Gail! Thanks so much for reaching out. I was able to find the following information on the Giordana website. Looks like the Silverline Short for women is going to have a 7" inseam. Look for an email from as well! Happy to help with any other future questions you may have!

Can't Go Wrong

I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Purchased these for my mother-in-law as a gift (for the third time, per her request). She says they are the most comfortable bike shorts of any she has worn. She rides long distances in hot, humid weather. Great product, would highly recommend.

I ride a lot. When I'm outdoors 50 miles is short. Any short is fine for less than 2 hours. Most are not good (for me) after that. I have had several pairs of Giordanas over the years and several different styles (and loads of other brands - none hold up to Giordana for me). This year's was my favorite. No sausage leg on these (maybe it's the style). the chamois is like butter and holds out forever. i also get crazy saddle sores - these keep them at bay the best (well, that, and taking a shower immediately after i ride - which i'm bad at). I'm 5'7"+ 130- pounds - size medium was great. (I've had larges in the past)

I agree! I am also 5'7 and 130lbs too and the medium fit perfect.
