Description

SilverLine Bib Short

Good bibs can make or break a ride, no doubt about it. We refuse to bargain shop on shorts if it means a sacrifice on materials or fit. Every once and a while a pair of bibs come along that exceeds our expectations. Giordana's SilverLine Bib Short are a great example and prove that you can find comfort and value in a pair of bibs that simply perform well and look great.

Giordana constructs the SilverLine out of a textured silky woven fabric which wraps around the leg with two panels. This helps supports the quads and the glutes separately and provides compression to reduce muscle fatigue and wicks moisture away from your skin. The core system stabilizes the short while accommodating the waist and hips for a comfortable fit that stays in place. This results in a fit that's comfortable and unrestrictive, yet perfectly supportive with just the right amount of compression. A plush Cirro chamois is highly breathable and provides plenty of cushioning adding comfort for your day in the saddle.

Soft wide elastic-microfiber bib straps constructed from LoPro 0 are seamless, super comfortable, and disappear under the jersey. At the center of the bib uppers are the 190 Mesh fabric to move moisture keeping you cool and dry. Holding the legs securely in place throughout your perfect spin is the supportive 4.5cm elastic leg cuffs. The short's reflective rear striping at the back of both legs amplify your blinky and car headlights ensuring safety at dawn and dusk.

  • Bib shorts offering comfort without breaking the bank
  • Streamlined fit appropriate for training rides
  • Lightweight synthetic fabrics wick moisture and offer compression
  • Seamless bib straps and mesh bib breathe and support
  • Soft, moisture-wicking chamois gives in-saddle comfort

Now I don't have a lot of different bibs to base this review off of, but I do really like these. 5'11 with an abnormally long torso and short legs (30 inch inseam). I have worn them about 15 times over a few months, They definitely stay in place, the chamois is plush, and I have not noticed or seen any abnormal wear and tear. I purchased a size large and they fit me well. My only complaint would be the legs are a bit long for me, but normal length legs, 32"ish inseam they would be perfect. I would recommend.

I love my Giordana Performance Bibs and wanted to augment my stock. Unfortunately, they are no longer available and the Silverline's looked as if they were the replacement model so I ordered a pair to try them out. I wore them on one ride and that's all they are going to get as the bib straps rubbed my nipples raw. The stitching in front does look rather odd, but that wasn't a concern for me. The pad was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the bib straps are a non-starter for me. It was a hot & sweaty day which probably exacerbated the situation but I was in so much discomfort I had to stop my ride after an hour.

For a bib that’s not outrageously priced these are great. Fit as expected. Very comfortable. About 10 rides in them and no complaints.

Had some Giordana bib shorts from 4 or 5 years ago that I really loved. I guess this is a more budget model but the fit was weird and the material around the padding was kind of bunched up in what appeared as poor quality control. Going to try another model or brand.

Love these bibs, have bought a couple pairs, I'd say vs. Castelli I like their way bigger chamois, the material is nice less shiny than most, feels like it is a bit longer lasting as well and feels good against the skin. Bought a pair of the Tenax shorts later for around the same price and regretted it, these Silverline shorts are WAY nicer and feel like much better quality.

First in my rotation to wear out.

I have used these many times so I know them well; perhaps I just wanted them to be better than they were and kept trying. Make no mistake about it, these are second tier bibs. The seam in front is strange looking but not a deal killer if the bibs work otherwise. They don't. The leg grippers are uncomfortable from day one, worst of any bibs I have owned outside the piece of junk I bought when I first started cycling. Unlike good bibs, you are aware of the leg grippers the entire ride. The real disappointment is the chamois. These were one in a rotation of 7 to 9 pairs of bibs. Early on I found my rear started letting me know there were issues in as little as 15 miles. I continued to use them and it did not improve. Indeed, I stopped using them for a couple of months, found them again in my dresser, and used them today. For the first time in two months my rear hurt after 10 miles. Always hand washed right after the ride, line dry. They just are not up to the task. I have 2 pair of Giordana FR-C. They are superb. They truly disappear once on the bike. Never an issue with discomfort from any aspect. You can find the FR-C on sale frequently at CC, getting the price down to or less than these Silverline. Wait for the sale, get the FR-C; fantastic bibs. Or get Assos or Castelli premio, two other bibs in my rotation. All are superbly comfortable with no issues. Again, watch for sales, then buy them. Do not buy these, or if you think these are good, do yourself a favor, try the FR-C, and take your ride to the next level.

I am a fan of these bib shorts. I have nothing to compare them too because I only buy these ones. The cut of these shorts is what I find to be so comfortable. I actually researched bin shorts and discovered that giordana makes these shorts with a very similar pattern to there top of the line shorts that cost 3-4x the price. The fabric is great for summer rides. The leg has descent compression and the suspenders are comfortable if you are not wearing a shirt underneath. These bib shorts are built from the idea of a brief with attached legs and suspenders. The well cushioned padding adds a final aspect that really allows for support and comfort in a 2-3 hour ride. They do run a tad small, but as an American I run a tad large. I think that the length of the leg is fine. Wash these and only hang them to dry to promote longevity.

Fit is amazing...stitching is the issue

This bib fits great and material is perfect. The only issue is the stitching in the front...where the goods are held. The stitch stops half way leaving a fold right in front...looks very odd. Otherwise, bib is great. I'm 6'3" 185lbs, bought XL.

The stitching in front is a deal breaker. The pair I recieved has overlapped material due to the crazy stitching run up the middle of the crotch. Looks like I have a camel toe going on. How does this company stay in business. Their jerseys suck too.

I like the quality and fit of Giordana bibs and these were no exception. This was my first pair of the Silverline model and I am quite pleased given the sale price that I paid. I understand that sizing is different for everyone but I do not consider these to run small based on my experience. Fit is on par with other Giordana and the length is perfect IMO. The material is fairly compressive and snug, as new shorts should be, and the chamois is very comfortable. I have used these on several 2-3hr trail/gravel rides on my CX bike and they are comfortable for the entire time. I would buy another pair of these!

Love these bibs, bought my first pair well over a year ago and they are still in the rotation as my daily rider. Superior padding, durability, and comfort. Straps fit close to the body, legs never ride up or move, no bunching of material in the nether regions. 10 out of 10 would recommend. They run a touch small I am 6 foot 190 and wear an XL, but this is expected given the Euro sizing. If you are reading this review just go ahead and buy them.

Ok, I have been using the bib tights version of these shorts, same pad and it is definately better than my other kits. My butt is not what it used to be at age 57. I recently lost a little weight and the kits I had other than my bib tights from same company weren't doing the job. So I got these so I now have a set I can where warm or cold out. By the way the Sosa Bib tights are great down to about 35-40 degrees and up to 60. so nice how they breathe but keep that wind from chilling you. Amazing fabrics used in both and stitched together really well. I'm 6'1" 195lb, XXL fits just fine.

The fit was excellent, straps were just about unnoticeable but I couldn't notice superior comfort after a 2 hour ride than my 60 dollar shorts. Maybe I just need to adjust since I'm new to the sport, but athletic. Thanks to Renzo B with spot on advice with size.

I used to wear nothing but Giordana. But these bibs are very uncomfortable. The straps have sharp edges that cut your skin and the waistline is way too low with a straight cut rather than a scooped shaped. The edges of the waistline are also sharp and rough.

    Excellent Everyday Bibs

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

Giordana makes a number of excellent bib shorts. The NX-G push the limits of fabric technology, the Lungo excel for long distances, and the FR-C are made for Race Day. But for weekday rides and training, the Silverline Bibs are everything a dedicated rider could want. They are made in Italy in Giordana's own factory. Materials, construction, and fit are excellent. It is nice to have a few kits in rotation, but they do not all need to be $300. These are a great pair for the quiver!

I found these bibs quite comfortable. The pad is sufficient and supportive while lacking some of the fancy antibacterial features and designs of Giordana's top tier pad. My first ride included 9 miles of in the saddle climbing where I didn't even notice the bib. I was quite happy with the fit - the straps are long enough for taller riders unlike other brands. at 6'1", 175 lbs I went with size large which is perfect. I normally wear a medium in more "American" fit brands. The inseam is relatively long so keep that in mind if you have shorter legs but it's perfect for taller riders. The short itself has enough compression without being overbearing and the leg gripper was unobtrusive while keeping things in place. One note - these shorts don't come up higher like some in the stomach which makes them easy for nature breaks but not as supportive.

    Quality/Comfortable/Durable

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
    Fit:
    True to size

These bibs are the best bibs I have worn at this price point. I was very impressed with the fit and styling. Especially if you like a longer inseam or are a taller rider. The chamois is extremely comfortable and the best one less than $200. The material is not the most comfortable, but acceptable and gets better as you wash them. One of the best things about these bibs is how durable they are. Durability can be an issue with cycling clothes and these are going to last forever. I have worn them about 4 times and on a couple 4+ hour rides. The straps are a bit wider and feel really nice over the shoulders, they don't cut in like some brands. I really enjoy these bibs and know you will as well.

    These
