At Competitive, we pretty much universally love matching kit, but some of us take it to obsessive extremes. The brakes, the cassette, and even the chain have to be the same make and model as the shifters, crank, and derailleurs. While this can be obnoxious — and unnecessarily expensive — it pays dividends when it comes to clothing like the Giordana FormaRed Carbon Jersey. If you're like us, you may initially pick this jersey up because it's the same label as your beloved FormaRed Carbon shorts, but spending one summer day in the unmatched FormaRed Jersey will convince you that obsessively matching kit can pay huge dividends.

The Asteria fabric used in the majority of the jersey is now on version 3.0, which enjoys improvements in weight, gentle compression, and breathability over its predecessor. While the pro-circulation and anti-fatigue properties of the compression are nice, the material's moisture management and lightweight are much more noticeable on hot summer days. The rear panel is made from Host Carbon for a solid structure that resists deforming even while your pockets are loaded down with food, CO2 cartridges, and an extra water bottle. It also keeps the jersey's back snug, so there's no extra material loosely flapping in the breeze.

Giordana finishes the jersey off with a few key details that keep the FormaRed perpetually at the front of our jersey queue. The laser-cut, heat-welded sleeves and low-profile, 3/4-wrap collar are virtually flat while promoting free movement and zero irritation. Three open cargo pockets in back are complemented by a fourth zippered pocket for valuables, and there are subtle but noticeable reflective elements all over to help keep you visible in low-light conditions.

  • Sleek road racing fit eliminates unnecessary material
  • Asteria fabric is compressive, breathable, stretchy for comfort on the hottest rides
  • Laser-cut arm cuffs eliminate transition ridges from skin to jersey
  • Three reflective details and three rear pockets keep you safe and well supplied

A baggy race fit jersey?

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Compared to a several year old FRC model that fits me perfectly in large (40 in chest, 32 in waist) this , also large, was about right across the shoulders but hopelessly lose from there down to waist. Lots of excess material, not form fitting at all, completely different cut from previous model. More a "club" fit than race cut. Very disappointed in Giordana for the fit itself but more so for the inconsistency. If you've got a great brand like FRC why mess around with something as basic as sizing. If you want this to be anything close to form fitting size down from the size chart.

I use a race fit and medium works in most brands. This was tiny, way too small.

Surprised on size recommendations

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

While others have said that this runs small, I actually thought it was a bit large for a race-cut jersey. For race-cut Euro sizes, I am usually in between a large and a medium. Since other reviewers mentioned that it runs small, I assumed that a large would be perfect. For me, the sleeves and shoulder areas felt too loose. I ended up exchanging it for a medium. While the medium is a bit tight, it seemed a better option than the large, which would have been too flappy. I expect a race-fit jersey to basically be skin tight so, with that expectation in mind, I would say it runs a bit large.
I have not yet used it, so cannot comment on how it performs. It looks well constructed, however, and I think it will be a nice jersey for times that are especially hot. Since it is a bit tight, it won't be a regular jersey and it would not have been worth the regular price for me. I purchased this at a big discount, however, and I think that this will be a nice jersey to have for rides on hot days.

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

This jersey is very small for the indicated size. I am 6'1" weigh 175, 42 inch chest and 32 inch waist, an XL is just too small. I understand it's an Italian race jersey, but I have owned Castelli jerseys, and although they run small, nothing like this jersey.

Nice jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Excellent race jersey. This jersey fits like a race jersey, has excellent ventilation and is made of nice materials.

Excellent jersey

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

This jersey is beautiful, extremely well made, includes thoughtful touches such as fabric protecting neck from the zipper, aero cut (so size up), breathes very well, and made to last with durable fabrics and construction. My go to jersey in warm conditions.

Downward spiral from glory days of FRC

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I own 4 pairs of FRC from 2013 so this is my reference point for comparison. The new model does not improve in any way from 2013. But it's significantly worse in several ways:
- the material on the shoulders feels cheaper
- the zipper, instead of being made of metal, is made of plastic and has trouble engaging. You have to be really careful when zipping up the shirt.
- worst of all, the front of the shirt is semi-transparent. What?

I'm staying away from Giordana until/if they figure out their quality control. I expect far more from a $200 jersey.

I agree ...
I have both the 2013 version, which is great, and the 2016 (?) version.
Along with the above comments, add: Material on shoulders 'Flaps' in the wind when going (somewhat) fast on a descent. Very disappointing, and not acceptable at ANY price-point close to this jersey's!
Looks good though ...

One of the Best Jerseys for Long Days

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First off, the sizing chart on this site is incorrect. Based on my chest size, i should be wearing a large jersey (40-inch). I went to the Giordana website and their sizing chart is updated (medium 38-39). I choose the medium jersey and it fits perfect! I'm 151 lbs and I like the tight/slim fit. The construction of this jersey is well made and I do not think this jersey will over stretch over time. I've ridden several 60 mile rides and this jersey is quite comfortable in 90-95F heat in Arizona.

The sizing on Giordana's website is very different than what you have here. For size Small, they say is 37-38 vs 34-35 here. That's a BIG difference. Who should I believe?

Not sure if this helps but size up for Giordana. I normally wear medium and occasionally small. With Giordana I always wear Large. I'm 5'8" and 161. I can't imagine who wears a small.
