Great construction but odd length
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
These are well-made but if you are hoping to move up a model from the superb FR-C shorts, be aware that the EXO are inexplicably about 4cm longer than the FR-C so unless you have unusually long legs, they will hit you behind the knees. Same excellent shamois as the FR-C, and sizing is about halfway between Euro slim and USA.
giordana exo system bib shorts
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: xxl
very nice bibs they fit very well, very comfortable with lots of room
EXO-llent
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: XXL
The 12 1/4 inch inseam is ideally suited for those of us with a long femur. If you check out the Giordana web site, you'll find that they are one of the few manufacturers that specify their bibs inseam length. The quality and fit meets the expectations of a higher end bib short.
Great offering from Giordana as usual
- Familiarity: I've used it several times

Start with I own five pairs of FRC bibs. That said, the Exo bibs are very different, but perform very well. Make no mistake.........the multi-panel, multi-fabric concoction offers a LOT of compression. While my FRC's are tight, and form fitting, they feel like basketball shorts compared to these things. The compression is noticeable, and helpful when riding with tired or sore legs. They also have the Cirro Omni Form chamois which is by far my favorite. They do run a bit longer than the FRC's so keep an eye on your tan line. I think the increased length aids in the compression/aero thing. These bibs are tighter than you might be used to, but feel really good when in in the cycling position. For fit reference, I am 6'1" and weigh 185 or so. Big-ish legs with a 36 inch waist. Like all Giordana bibs, I wear a 2XL, so size up for sure.
I'm 6'2.5", 255lbs. I've only worn these once on a weeknight 35mile ride and noticed an abrasion across the front of mr. pete. The front of the pad ends right at the base of mr. pete. Will give them one more try with adjustments.... ;-)
Great bibs
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: XXL
Giordana's EXO line is characterized by excellent materials and workmanship. I have used Giordana bibs for several years, and they are long wearing and comfortable. This pair is no exception. I'm not sure why they continue to increase in price, but buy them on sale and you won't be disappointed. These particular bibs seem to run a trifle large relative to G's historic Euro sizing. Would have been happier with an XL size, but they were all sold out.
does this fit similar to the vero bib?

EXO vs ASSOS s7
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
So I just purchased the EXO bibs and the Assos s7 equipe and while I love the Assos bibs I used the EXO one time and sent them back to Competitive Cyclist, who were gracious enough to give me store credit. With the Assos bibs you forget they are there after you put them on and I found the EXO bibs to be very uncomfortable to me. In addition, the EXO bibs are very long and reached all the way to my knee cap. I will be ordering another pair of Assos but will pass on Giordana next time.
My Favorite Bibs Right Now.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
From my closet of Assos FI.Mille S5s, Castelli Body Paint 2.0's, Capo Padrones, and Giordana FR-Cs, these are my favorite bibs right now.
The straps, and the compression at the thigh are just perfect for me, and I actually find the chamois more comfortable than that of the Assos, especially on long rides -- although it is close. As the description states, the legs are cut a little longer, but while I would prefer them to be a bit shorter, I don't mind them. The leg bands absolutely disappear -- even after many hours in the saddle. I've had no durability issues so far. What would I change? Not much...
Exo vs. Assos FI.Mille
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
My info:
Height 6'-3"; weight 195lbs; body type athletic.
I ride 3-4 times a week; regular rides in the 30-40 miles with one ride a week in the 70--100 miles.
I bought this bib for my long rides. Other shorts that I use for long rides are Assos fI.mille-s5. I bought the Exo in XL size and the Assos I use are XLG. I bought Assos XLG because that is the size that was recommended based on my height, although my next pair will be an XL, the XLG feels too loose on my waist.
I like the Exo better from the hip up. They are perfect on the waist and the suspenders are in my opinion superior to Assos, I really like the no-seem approach. Also I prefer the cut for both suspenders and on the front at waist level--a bit lower, more opened. I never felt the suspenders for the whole lengths of my rides. The chamois is good but Assos is better. For my liking Assos chamois is just perfect, everything, the fit, the padding. I have not found any other shorts that match that. Also, I like better Assos fit/fabric on the legs. The Exo after a couple of hours start feeling too tight for what I like and it bugged me.
I will use the Exo for my shorter rides and stick with Assos for my long rides, I will just try a size down on the fi.mille next time, to see if the waist gets a bit tighter but still maintains length on the suspenders. For the Exo, not sure if available, if I had a chance to purchase again, I would probably look into XXL to get more room in the legs.

Wow!
I just picked up a pair of these and I'm very impressed! I didn't think Giordana could do better than the FRC but they somehow managed. I have 5 rides on them now and its my go to short for anything from 50 to 90 degrees. The Compressions is noticeable and keeps the muscles happy on the longest of rides.
I hate to say it, but my Assos shorts may now be set aside for trainer rides.
Scary about the Assos comment. Love my Assos but thinking about giving them a go.
Really glad to hear that yours are holding up. Bought a pair, did one long ride and the seams in the seat came apart. Sent them back and replaced them with the same bibs. The second ones did almost exactly the same thing. Sent them back for credit and have not replaced them . I have never had this happen with any of my other shorts. The shorts were comfortable but just did not hold up. I have not worn out another pair of shorts and to have these come apart after one ride was very disappointing, especially at the price. No problems with De Marchi, Gore or Pearl Izumi.
Competitive Cyclist was great and credited both pairs as they promised. Can not blame them they totally stood behind the product.
I ordered the XXL based on your review and the sizing worked out well for me.
